Mini Minis at Sands Farm: Olivia, Lilah, Olivia and Charlotte
Cobham Showjumping, Sands Farm, 17th October
Well done to our fabulous Mini Minis, Lilah Gibbs on Kitty, Olivia Leaning on Portia, Charlotte Meaking on Buttons and Olivia Randell on Phantom and to our fantastic Minis, Rebecca Swain on Billy, Grace Jelley on Billy, Rosie Meadows on Woody and Luke Stent on Merlin on a really good first outing of the indoor season. Thank you and congratulations to all their supporters and to our wonderful Team Mums, Alex Randell and Louise Meadows. It turned out to be a very "Yellow Day" for all!
The Mini Minis started the day with their warm up class, The Mini Mini Scurry, and although we always treat it as a warm up and go for lovely smooth rounds, Oliva R and Phantom managed to show their turn of speed and skill at cutting corners to come 4th individually. The Mini Mini Team of Lilah, Olivia L, Charlotte and Olivia R all rode extremely well in the first round to get into the Jump Off. Lilah and Charlotte were selected to Jump Off for their Team and did a fabulous job to secure 4th place.
The Minis rode their warm up class very thoughtfully and Luke and Merlin showed their jumpoff credentials by taking 3rd place. They all went on to the Mini Team class with great determination. All rode superb first rounds to get their team into the second round. Luke and Rosie were chosen to jump off for their Team. They rode so well in a very competitive jumpoff and took their Team into 4th place.
Our Novice Team of Eva Wiesenanger - Pepper, Anna Webster - Chocolate, Holly Partridge - Digby and Francesca Vallini - Badger worked brilliantly together, giving one another plenty of support in true Chiddingfold Farmers' style. The courses were very twisty and up to height with some lovely water trays in the individual class which caused plenty of problems, but not for Holly who did a lovely clear round and Francesca who finished with just 4 faults. By the time we got to the team class, we had found our stride even with the water trays. Eva and Holly went clear and Anna got 4 faults. There were only three teams that went clear and no other teams with 4 faults, so this left us in a tremendous 4th place. This was a great success as this team was very novice with two 6 year olds and all of them fairly new partnerships, so well done to all.

Chiddingfold Farmers' Hunter Trials and Tetrathlon, 10th & 17th October
A huge amount of work went into organising our Hunter Trials and Tetrathlon so many thanks are due to Jane Vile, Daniela and Tim Chichester Kaner and members of the Chiddingfold Branch. We had a Chiddingfold Farmers' member in the top two in every class of the Hunter Trials, which was a brilliant achievement. At the Tetrathlon we were represented by the entire Chichester Kaner family (Charlie and Tim both with Best Swim), old hand Suzannah Monk (3rd & Best Run) and talented newcomers Joe Lethbridge (4th) and Heather Godman (2nd). Our Parents' Team of Daniela and Tim, Julian Monk and Steve Cruichshank came 2nd.

Novice Eventers Anna, Eva, Briony, Katarina, Tamara, Suzannah, Alex and Florice
Novice Showjumpers Megan, Emily, Helena and Izzy
Lottie & Tamara
Southern Novice Championships, Bisley, 12th September
A record 17 novices competed for us, the sun shone and all of our teams did really well. In the Dressage Emily Brock (Jade) and Charlotte Murphy (Guinness) both came a fantastic 2nd, and backed up by Rosie Jameson (Malibu) who kindly stepped in at the last minute the team came 3rd . In the other team Helena Traill (Ettie's Choice), also a late recruit, came 3rd and with Francesca Vallini (Badger) Megan Brown (Dynamo) and Anna Webster (Chocolate) in her first competition for us they came 10th . The Horse Trials teams all did nice tests with Briony Pearson (Bella) gaining a good start on 32.5, and Tamara Chiltern Hunt (Prince) 35 which they maintained throughout with double clears giving Tamara 1st and Briony 2nd in their arenas. Suzannah Monk on her new ride Willow followed up with a 7th to give the team, with Katarina Chichester Kaner (JS Lad) team 1st, well ahead of the other teams. The other team of Florice Cole Fontayn, again a new combination (Piper's Dream), Anna Passmore (Connor) Eva Wiesendanger (Pepper) another very good new member, and Alex Adams (Razzle) came 9th . The Show Jumping teams then followed on in good style with 5 of the 7 going clear in the first round. All teams found the 2nd round quite costly and no team went through with a zero score, 4 going in to the jump off on 4 and we followed in 5th place with the team of Emily, Helena (double clear), Megan (double clear) and Izzy Rennocks (Tetley). The other team was Francesca, Anna Webster (double clear) and Annie Fiddian Green (Shannon). This was a fantastic way to finish the season and thank you to all riders, parents and supporters for making it such an enjoyable day. Note from Lisa: The biggest thanks of all go to Ros for her incredible hard work and dedication to this group all year

Mini Eventers Bertie, Rosie M and Rosie J
Mini Showjumpers Rebecca, Grace, Luke and Giselle
at Goodwood
Southern Mini Championships, Goodwood, 5th September
Well done to all our Minis and their wonderful supporters for making it such a great day. Without exception, whatever the result, everyone really enjoyed themselves and learned lots from the experience. Already they are looking forward to next year very much! The Dressage Team of Olivia Randell on Billy, Luke Stent on Merlin, Rebecca Swain on Billy, and Grace Jelley on Billy (three Billies in one team must be a record!!) all started the day in fine style. Luke and Merlin showed a glimmer of what is still to come with a 7th individual place in his arena.
The less experienced SJ team of Olivia Randell on Billy, Georgie Kemp in Midnight, Annie Higgo on Ellie and Lilah Gibbs on Whennie all gave it their all to finish the first round on 4 faults. The second round was a demanding, fully up to height course which Annie, Lilah, Georgie and Olivia all rode with huge determination, and all achieved personal bests - well done! The more experienced SJ team of Luke on Merlin, Rebecca on Billy, Giselle Stent on Lightening and Grace on Billy all jumped beautiful clears in both rounds to finish on a score of zero! Only two branches managed this, so for the second year in succession Luke was selected to ride the jump off. The only difference was that last year he rode Lightening and this year he was on Merlin. Luke went first on Merlin and rode absolutely beautifully, following the course that had been planned to the letter. The other branch then jumped off with their representative who pulled and pushed her pony round to beat Luke by just 0.7 of a second!!!!! Luke was a bit disappointed having won it on his jump off last year, but after some discussion it was agreed that 2nd place was fantastic for this young team, and that the way Luke had ridden his jump off with such calmness and sensitivity was the biggest prize of all.
The Horse Trials team of Rosie Jameson on Malibu, Bertie Cole-Fontayn on Conker and Rosie Meadows on Woody all did nice tests, all three of them jumped out of their skins in the SJ which was very exciting - three fabulous clear rounds over a course that was causing a lot of trouble. On the XC, Rosie J had one unfortunate stop and Bertie had another one, but Rosie M and Woody showed how it should be done riding the most stupendous clear round. Rosie M was placed 6th individually in her section and Rosie J 7th in hers, and much to our delight the team was placed 8th, which was a lovely way to finish the day. Well done to all of you and a huge "THANK YOU!" to Kathy for all her wonderful guidance. Note from Lisa: The biggest thanks of all go to Anne Marie for her incredible hard work and dedication to this group all year

Florice with her lovely 2nd placed Individual Dressage rosette; 2nd Tack & Turnout for Briony, Anna & Georgina;
Chiddingfold Farmers' Novice contingent in Cheshire
NATIONAL NOVICE CHAMPIONSHIPS, Cheshire, 28th/29th August
7 intrepid Novices, plus lots of supporters, set off for the Novice Championships in Cheshire on Friday for a weekend of competing in all disciplines. All travelled the long journey well and the Chid Farmers' extensive 'camp' was set up by the stables. The venue was stunning and despite numerous soakings we were lucky to compete in the limited dry spells and the wind kept the ground drying out when possible so that the going was good. Our dressage teams of Suzannah Monk (Rosie) Emily Brock (Jade) and Florice Cole Fontayn (Ben) started at the crack of dawn on Saturday, all looking immaculate, with Florice doing a fantastic test to give her 2nd in her arena, and Suzannah finished 18th. The second team followed later, equally looking immaculate, but obviously catching the judge's eye as they came 2nd in the Tack and Turn out competition by only one point. Briony Pearson (Bella), Georgina Ambrose (George) and Anna Passmore (Connor) all did nice tests with Briony finishing 9th and Georgina 15th. Suzanna had also qualified for the individual SJ with Willow and over the 2 rounds, which were well up to height, only had 1 pole down. The eventers then got going on Sunday, fortunately missing the deluge when the commentator actually admitted she couldn't see who was doing what as the rain was so bad!. Briony did a lovely test of 28.8, with Suzannah (back on Rosie), Alex Adams (Razzle) and Anna doing tests of nearly equal marks. The SJ was an amazing roller coaster track, the jumps actually having to be held up by people because of the wind, causing quite a few faults, but Suzannah jumped a beautiful clear, Briony only tipped a pole, Anna had a couple down and Razzle, for once showing respect for the fences, jumped really well. The XC was a long, hilly course that caught a lot out on fitness, beautifully built and testing, but our girls gave their horses lovely rides round, with only the water causing us (and many others) problems - not Razzle though, nothing was going to stop him! Well done everyone, a brilliant effort by all, and an experience to remember.
HH ODE, Rogate, 29th August
Well done to Rosie Meadows on Woody and Hannah Ede on Parsley who flew the flag for our Minis at Fairoak. Rosie succeeded in producing her personal best on Woody and Hannah rode like a demon and with great determination steered Parsley into 3rd place individually. Well done girls!
Congratulations to Alice Hanson for passing her B Test
PONY CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS, Draycott House Derbyshire, 16th August
Congratulations to our Intermediate Dressage team, Alice Hanson riding Society Smooch, Ellie Lloyd-Jones riding Kilcarroll Lad and Harri Snelling riding Cleo D. It was their first time at the Championships and they all produced careful and well ridden tests. Alice was delighted to come joint 3rd in her arena and claimed that she never thought that dressage would be this exciting! The team came 6th in Tack and Turnout and proudly paraded in the main arena to collect their rosettes. The Open Eventing team of Hannah Murphy riding Spring Sunrise, Tots Hanson riding Leonard Curtis and Laura Normand riding Xanthus III walked the course two or three times carefully, looking at the very technical fences. They were helped by Mark Corbett who gave them all separate advice and lots of encouragement. They all produced good show jumping rounds only having one pole down each and Hannah and Tots went on to do brilliant clear rounds cross-country. Hannah ended being placed 2nd in her arena which was a brilliant result and Tots ended up 5th in hers. At the mounted prize giving 6 competitors were nominated for a Bursary Award for Horsemanship on the cross-country course and Tots was delighted to be one of them. The final day was the Intermediate Eventing and flying the flag for Chiddingfold Farmers was Ellie Lloyd-Jones and Kilcarroll Lad. They produced a beautiful dressage test and went on to do a good show jumping round but sadly retired on the cross country. Well done to you all, team spirit was there throughout the four days and we would all like to thank Kate and Anna for their support, without whom we really could not have managed such outstanding results.
In the Junior Horse and Pony Care competition our team of Megan Brown, Claudia Heanley and Heather Godman represented Area 13 and came 5th out of 20 teams which was very exciting. Thank you to Chloe for preparing them so well.

The Junior Horse & Pony Care Team at Draycott: Miya and Lara at Cowdray
Cowdray Hunt PC ODE, 15th August
Many congratulations to Lara Partridge, who won her Mini Mini section, and to Miya Halsey who came 2nd - stars for the future!
Mini Showjumpers at Hickstead: Hannah, Grace, Rebecca and Bertie
Southdown Hunt West PC SJ, Hickstead, 14th August
Our Mini Team of Hannah Ede on Parsley, Bertie Cole-Fontayn on Conker, Rebecca Swain on Billy - skewbald and Grace Jelley on Billy - grey, all did fantastically well to deal with the torrential rain, thunder storms and a VERY long Hickstead day without a grumble. The Mummies and the Daddy were fabulous too, plus our canine supporters particularly the Rottweiler! All four Team members rode really well, there was a marked improvement since Mini Camp - well done and thank you Kathy. They rode eight clear rounds in the warm up, and finished the Team competition on a total of four faults. Rebecca and Grace each rode two lovely clear rounds earning them the most spectacular Double Clear Rosettes - the envy of everyone, as there were very few Double Clears in the whole competition. In the Jump Off, Rebecca rode a beautiful clear round - fast and economical - exactly as walked and planned. She and Billy were an absolute pleasure to watch and did really well against a field of regular show jumpers to put her Team into 8th place.
Well done to Olivia Moriano, who
came 8th at the British Dressage Inter Dressage Regionals for the Southern Region at Keysoe in July, she is the highest placed Fledgling the South have ever had. Well done also to Lara Partridge, who was the Mini Champion at the Cranleigh Show

Novices at Area SJ: Georgina, Anna, Briony, Suzannah, Alex, Emily & Julia; Intermediates Phoebe, Grace, Ellie and Holly
AREA SHOW JUMPING, BCA, 7th August
It was an extremely early start for the Open Team with Tack inspection at 7.45 and a huge disappointment when they realised that the 3rd member of the team, Katie Harper, was not coming as her horse had gone lame that morning, so Tots Hanson riding Leonard Curtis and Harri Snelling riding Cleo D competed as individuals. Both did beautiful clear rounds in the first round over a very tight, technical course but they both had poles down in the second round. The intermediate Team of Grace Lloyd Jones riding Classic Z , Ellie Lloyd Jones riding Kilcarrol Lad, Phoebe Fuller riding Dundee Sandstorm and Holly Carter riding Ulana B looked beautifully turned out for their tack inspection and were placed 5th. Ellie and Holly both did beautiful clear rounds in the first round over a big track and Holly went on to do a clear in the second round which was one of only a few double clears of the day. The final jump off was really exciting to watch, and Holly ended up being placed 6th which for her first Area event at this height was a brilliant result. Well done to you all for taking part - you really worked well together supporting each other on the team.
The novice teams started the day with a very high standard in the Tack and Turn out competition, all 7 scoring 17 or more out of 20. This gave Suzannah, Georgina, Anna and Briony 3rd place out of 22 teams. The jumping course was spacious and inviting in the first round and Suzannah (Willow), Alex (Razzle), Julia (Jack) and Briony (Bella) all jumped clear with Georgina (George), Anna (Connor) and Emily (Jade) only making one mistake each. Time was tight on the course however so unfortunately Julia and Emily picked up a few extra time faults. In the second round Emily was determined not to let that happen again and jumped clear together with Suzannah again. Suzannah then went on to the individual jump off – should she or should she not cut in to the last fence to jump at an acute angle? Well she trusted Willow and made it look easy and finished 2nd, giving her her 3rd qualification for the National Championships. The team of Suzannah, Georgina , Briony and Anna finished an excellent 9th overall. Well done everyone.
A special thank you to our President Marjorie Irby for coming to support us

Delighted Intermediates at Area Dressage: Harri, Katie, Ellie, Susanna and Alice
First & Second placed Novices Georgie, Briony, Suzannah, Florice, Emily and Julia
AREA DRESSAGE, BCA, 29th July
The Novices have triumphed again, this time at the Area Dressage Qualifier at Berkshire College of Agriculture. All 7 competitors went home with huge smiles and an arm full of rosettes. In the warmup test Suzannah Monk came 1st, Anna Passmore, Georgina Ambrose and Briony Pearson came 2nd and Emily Brock and Florice Cole Fontayn came 3rd, an excellent warmup for the Area test and Team competition! They kept up the good work and high standards to achieve more brilliant scores in the Area test with Julia Normand, in her first competition at this level on her new pony, winning her arena, Florice and her new horse winning her arena and Georgina also winning her arena, closely followed by Briony 2nd, Emily 4th and Anna 5th. This gave our teams unbeatable scores with Emily, Florice and Julia winning and Suzannah, Anna, Georgina and Briony coming 2nd. Both teams therefore qualify for the National Championships in Cheshire, joining the Eventing team who have already qualified, so it's a double for Suzannah, Anna and Briony. Fantastic! The Open Team produced some good results: Pip Lewis riding Herberts Sweet William and Laura Normand riding Zanthus were 5th and Katie Harper riding Colin was 8th. Congratulations to the Intermediate team who were placed 2nd and qualified for the Pony Club Championships. Ellie Lloyd Jones riding Kilcarrol Lad did two beautiful tests and came 1st in both the warm up and the main test. Alice Hanson riding Society Smooch came 2nd in her main test, Susanna Milton came 3rd in her warm up test and 7th in the main test and Katie Patrick came 6th in her warm up test. Harri Snelling competed as an individual and came 8th in her main test. These were excellent results, well done to you all.

Winning Area Novice Eventing Team Suzannah, Briony, Alex and Susanna

with 4th placed team Indi, Emily, Katie and Alice
Winning Area Open Eventing Team Tots, Laura and Hannah
AREA HORSE TRIALS, Coombelands, 18th July
What an amazing day for the Chiddingfold Farmers! We're off to the Championships, with a clear win out of 20 teams at the Novice Area Qualifier. Brilliant dressage scores and double clears for Suzannah Monk and Rosie – a triumphant 1st in their arena, a jubilant Briony and Bellissima also 1st and a thrilled Susanna and Dougal 3rd. Alex Adams was the 4th team member, who did an excellent XC ride to complete the faultless cross country phase for the team. Individuals Anna Passmore and Charlotte Cruickshank also completed the day well, with Anna just out of the placings. Our Intermediate Pink team of Holly Carter, Ellie Lloyd Jones, Harri Snelling and Phoebe Fuller narrowly missed qualifying for the Championships when they finished an excellent 2nd - Ellie was 2nd individually and qualified as an individual. Harri and Phoebe were 5th individually. Our Intermediate Blue team of Katie Patrick (5th), Indi Thompson (4th) Emily Stovold (7th) and Alice Hanson (8th) finished 4th. To cap an already brilliant day, our Open Team of Tots Hanson, Hannah Murphy and Laura Normand also WON and qualified for the Championships. Hannah, on her first appearance at Open Area Horse Trials, WON her section and the Best Newcomer award, with Laura coming 4th and Tots 5th. A huge amount of hard work went into these results and all our members deserved their successes. Good luck for the Championships!

Winning Minis Hannah, Bertie, Rebecca and Grace and 2nd Placed Novices Holly, Alex, Issi and Florice at Pachesham
3rd Placed Mini Minis Heather, Giselle, Savannah and Lilah
SURREY UNION PC JUNIOR SHOW, Pachesham, 17th July
Our Mini Team (12 and under) of Hannah Ede on Parsley, Bertie Cole-Fontayn on Conker, Rebecca Swain on Billy and Grace Jelley on Billy (two Billys in one team!) were all beautifully turned out and rode superbly to finish on a team score of 0. All of them rode the most beautiful clear rounds which meant that they WON the competition! Congratulations go to Grace on Billy who competed as team members for the first time. Our Mini Mini Team (10 and under) of Giselle Stent on Little Lightening, Lilah Gibbs on Whennie, Savannah Sartori on Fred and Heather Godman on Jaffa Cake all rode really well and came out of the ring with huge smiles on their faces which meant that the Team came 3rd. Well done to Giselle and Savannah on copy book clear rounds and huge congratulations to Lilah and Heather on their first outings as members of a CFPC Mini Team. Thank you, as always, to our wonderful team of supporters who cheered everyone on and made it such a fun day. Our Novice team of Holly, Alex, Issi and Florice rode really well. They went through to the jump off on zero faults, together with 3 other teams. They all did excellent jump off rounds, with Issi and Holly going clear again, and split on time with the other team on 4 faults they came an excellent 2nd .Well done everyone.
Many congratulations to Hannah Murphy and Anna Lawson who have been selected for the squad to represent the
South East Region at the JRN Championships at Weston Park in October.

THE PONY CLUB MUSICAL RIDE COMPETITION, Stoneleigh, 11th July
A small but dedicated band of Chidd Farmers have been practicing hard with Kathy for weeks to produce a fabulous ride entitled 'A Kaleidoscope of Pony Club Colours'. We spent a fantastic weekend in Warwickshire together and had lots of fun, culminating in a brilliant 3rd place on the day. We had the confidence not to hide behind fancy costumes but concentrate on producing a true Pony Club Ride (rather than a dressage display), which both the commentator and a lovely onlooker said was the most technical of the competition and would have put the Household Cavalry to shame! A slight musical hitch cost us a few marks but the winning team was very strong. There lots of photos in the Gallery and we hope to repeat the ride for you all soon. There's even talk of entering the competition again next year! Our heartfelt thanks go to the dedication of both Kathy as trainer and Kate Lawson as costume designer.

Winning Mini Showjumping Team Hannah, Luke, Rosie M and Rosie J at our Junior Show
2nd Placed Mini Minis
Happy Intermediates at Smith's Lawn - Katie, Ellie, Indi and Alice
They waited for their results for several hours in searing heat and still managed to look impeccably smart!
GARTH HUNT & WOKINGHAM ODE, Smith's Lawn, 27th June
Ellie Lloyd Jones, Indi Thompson, Alice Hanson and Katie Patrick WON the Intermediate Horse Trials at Smiths Lawn and took home a well deserved shield. Team spirit was high as they supported each other through each phase in the soaring summer temperatures! Ellie and Kilcarrol Lad had the best dressage score of 21.5 in section A . Individually Alice and Society Smooch were placed 4th in section C and Katie and So Sue Me were placed 4th in section D. Indi and Cuffs Grange Original were 9th in section B. It was a really exciting day and with 15 teams taking part it was a brilliant result. WELL DONE to you all, and a special thank you to your parents for being so supportive .
PETERSFIELD ODE, Coombelands, 20th June
Well done to our 3 novices that went to the Petersfield ODE last weekend – Georgina Ambrose, Briony Pearson and Charlotte Murphy. All did very well going clear XC and only one mistake in the SJ, but the standard of dressage on the day was very high and with only 2 arenas being run this phase was very influential in the results. Both Briony and Charlotte have moved on to new horses, and the latter didn't have an easy time getting there, so a team placing of 8th was very pleasing. Individually Briony came a fantastic 3rd on her first attempt at a ODE on Bella – a star in the making! Georgina was just out of the placings 9th. We also had two individual Intermediates out, Ellie Lloyd Jones and Alice Hanson. Alice achieved an excellent dressage score of 26 but unfortunately had a stop and both girls were out of the placings.

2nd Placed Mini Team at Rogate - Rosie, Hannah, Bertie and Moses
CHIDDINGFOLD ODE, Rogate, 13th June
The Novice team (Georgina Ambrose, Suzanna Monk, Charlotte Cruickshank and Alex Adams) competed at a new testing and up to height Rogate course and did very well indeed to secure 7th place. There were many problems on the cross country for all teams, with new technical skinny combination fences and another section taking competitors into a very dark wooded area, but special mention should be made of Alex (individual 8th) who completed a wonderful xc clear round on Razzle. Our Mini Team of Moses Fiddian-Green on Major, Rosie Jameson on Malibu, Bertie Cole-Fontayn on Conker and Hannah Ede on Parsley all rode really well, turning in nice dressage tests and fabulous SJ and XC performances. The Team came 2nd, with Rosie coming 2nd in her section, Bertie 3rd in his and Hannah 8th in hers. There was also an Open 2'6 Class (Level 2) and we were absolutely delighted that both Tamara Chiltern-Hunt and Julia Normand WON their sections - a brilliant feat as they were both riding new ponies and their team, which included Annie Murphy and Becky Lewis, came 4th.

Our fantastic (and very smart!) Winning Open Team of Anna, Tots and Laura (L) and
2nd placed Intermediate Team of Grace, Indi and Holly (R) at Tweseldown.
GARTH SOUTH ODE, Tweseldown, 6th June
Our Open Team of Anna Lawson, Tots Hanson and Laura Normand won the Open Class at Tweseldown, with Tots coming 1st in her section, Anna coming 3rd in hers and Laura, on her first appearance for our open team with her new horse Eric, coming 8th. Our Intermediate team of Grace Lloyd Jones (5th individually), Indi Thompson and Holly Carter came 2nd, with Katie Harper also coming 1st in her section. A really brilliant result for Chiddingfold Farmers senior teams - well done everyone!

(L) Novice Showjumpers at Cowdray - Georgie, Izzi, Annie-Rose and Alex
(R) Hannah on Parsley
COWDRAY SJ, Selham, 3rd June
Our Novice showjumpers came a brilliant 8th on Thursday. There were lots of teams more experienced than ours but Georgie Ambrose led her inexperienced team members Issi Rennocks, Alex Adams and Annie-Rose Fiddian-Green to a great result as the Mummies sipped wine in the sunshine. Georgie went clear, Issi had a couple of stops and Annie-Rose just tipped a pole. Alex had an unfortunate 12 faults but had a lovely clear in the scurry. A great team for the future! We had two Mini teams competing - Annie Murphy on Rupert, Rosie Jameson on Malibu, Bertie Cole-Fontayn on Conker, Hannah Ede on Parsley, Rebecca Swain on Billy, Rosie Meadows on Woody and Luke Stent on Mouse were all turned out beautifully and tried their hardest. It turned out to be a good Learning Day and all our Minis got a lot out of the experience. Huge congratulations to Luke for riding two beautiful clear rounds and well done to Rebecca on her first outing as a member of a Mini Team

Area 13 Tetrathlon Team (Katarina 2nd from left)
Pentathlon Team Hannah, Suzannah and Katarina
AREA 15/16 INTER AREA TET, Bicton, 1st & 2nd June.
Area 13 had a strong team including our own Katarina Chichester Kaner again this year and managed to win the Junior Girls' competition.
MPABG BYO Pony Pentathlon 29th May Ashford
This was a 'bring your own pony' pentathlon and we had a team of Katarina, Charlotte and Suzannah who came 2nd over all the different classes which was brilliant - Individually, Katarina came 1st, Suzannah 6th and Charlotte 8th. Suzannah won the ride - only 3 went clear overall and Katarina came 1st in the shoot and this was Charlotte's first pentathlon.

Best Turned out for Greta & Lilah - Savannah with her four Firsts
Well done to Alice Hanson, Rosie Barker, Briony Pearson, Florice Cole-Fontayn, Greta Gibbs and Lilah Gibbs who were the Best Turned Out in their rides at our Half Term rally.
COBHAM TET , 1st June
Very well done to Savannah Sartori, who entered the under 12 Minis (mixed boys and girls). She came first individually overall, first with her mixed team, first for the best swim and first for the best ride - a star in the making!

Open Showjumpers Anna, Tots & Harri - Suzannah at New Forest Tet
HICKSTEAD QUALIFIER, 30th May
Our Open team had a successful day, ending up 5th and only just missing out on qualifying. It was an incredibly competitive class and included some large fences and tight turns. Tots Hanson and Leonard Curtis did a beautiful double clear, Anna Lawson and Heart of Gold had just one pole down in the second round and they were joined by Harri Snelling and Cleo D. The team were placed 2nd in Tack & Turnout which they really deserved. The Intermediate team continued the high standard. Pip Lewis and Herberts Sweet William, Holly Carter and Ulana B and Katie Patrick and So Sue Me came 3rd in Tack & Turnout, but sadly after the warm up Herbie and Pip had to retire, which left our team with only two competitors. Holly rode a beautiful double clear and Katie just had a couple of unlucky poles. As it was a team event we were not placed, but well done to all. Thank you to all who came to support especially Jane Vile - it is always good to see you.
NEW FOREST TET, 25th May
Intermediate - Charlie Chichester Kaner came 8th individually and his team 3rd. The Junior girls team came 3rd. Suzannah Monk came a fanatastic 2nd, Katarina CK came 8th with the best shoot and Charlotte Cruickshank 12th with an excellent run. The Chid Farmers' Parents team - Daniela & Tim Chichester Kaner, Julian Monk and Steve Cruickshank - came 6th. Tim got the best swim and came 5th individually.

Hannah after her brilliant Open win at Hambleden
SOUTH OXFORDSHIRE HUNT SOUTH ODE, Hambleden, 23rd May.
Congratulations to Hannah Murphy and Spring Sunrise who WON their section. It was their first time representing Chiddingfold farmers at Open level and they produced an excellent dressage test and a beautiful double clear. Anna Lawson and Heart Of Gold received Best Dressage in their section and together with Victoria Hanson and Leonard Curtis the Open team came 4th - well done to you all. Sadly we were unable to send an Intermediate team due to injuries, but Holly Carter and Ulana B and Katie Patrick and So Sue Me went as individuals. It was their first time out competing at this level. Holly had a beautiful show jumping round but did not get past the notorious Hambleden Quarry. Katie had one down show jumping but completed the XC with only one minor run out. Well done to you both for some excellent riding.
AREA MOUNTED GAMES, Eashing, 23rd May
Well done to our Junior Team of Hannah Ede, Giselle Stent, Heather Godman, Olivia Leaning and Emma Thornton who came 2nd in the Tack & Turnout. They have been practicing hard and will be a strong team in the future.
Julia and Katarina at Bisley
BISLEY ODE, 9th May
Well done to our Minis and their wonderful supporters - it was really thrilling to have so many fathers cheering on our teams! Thank you for coming Paul, Michael, Nigel, John and Mark. Our Tigers team of Rosie Meadows on Mouse, Savannah Sartori on Fred and Holly Powell on Autumn all rode their socks off to come 4th in the team competition. Savannah and Holly deserve huge congratulations for completing their first ever One Day Event, and both of them rode brilliantly to come 5th individually in their respective arenas, with good dressage tests and fabulous double clears. Rosie came 8th individually in her arena. Our Lions team of Rosie Jameson on Malibu, Hannah Ede on Parsley III and Bertie Cole-Fontayn on Conker all rode well to come 6th in the team competition. Rosie showed all of us how it should be done by coming 2nd Individually in her arena with a very good dressage and a lovely double clear. Six Novices also took part. Christopher, Suzannah and Anna Passmore all did excellent low 30s dressage tests with Katarina close on their heels, but unfortunately for Georgina, George was not his usual self and she had to retire. All show jumped well but hopes were dashed as the famous spooky water claimed many casualties, including Suzannah and Anna. Katarina rode her new horse really positively to get round clear and Julia Normand, in her first Novice event, did a determined clear on Jack. Eventually, late into the evening, results were given out and Katarina finished 3rd, Julia 5th and Christopher 7th.

CFPC ODE, Coombelands, 2nd May
Very well done to our Mini Team of Annie Murphy on Rupert, Hannah Ede on Parsley III, Bertie Cole-Fontayn on Conker and Goldie Fiddian-Green on Major who, as numbers one, two, three and four, blazed a trail getting the Horse Trials off to a fantastic start. Individually Annie and Rupert were 4th in their section, Goldie and Major were 7th in theirs and Bertie and Conker were 8th in theirs. Huge congratulations to Annie who ended the day on just her dressage score and Bertie who completed his first ever One Day Event. The Novices brought a shine to the proceedings - unfortunately for the Blue team - Suzannah Monk, Christopher Milton, Georgina Ambrose and Pip Lewis - the XC warm up area directly behind the arena caused a few advanced dressage movements from the horses at uncalled for moments and scores were down on their usual standard. However they picked up well with brilliant SJ and XC to finish 6th. Individually Suzannah came 5th, Pip and Georgina 7th. Our Pink team of Katarina Chichester Kaner, Anna Passmore, Charlotte Cruickshank and Becky Cruickshank also rode well and have gained some good experience with their new mounts. Katarina and Anna both had excellent dressage scores. Annie Fiddian Green also competed in her first novice event having moved up from minis and Rebecca Lewis (8th), Issi Rennocks (4th), Holly Partridge (6th) and Tamara Chiltern Hunt did very well in the smaller height class.. Well done everyone. Well done also to our Intermediate team - Emily Stovold and Lucky Cliff came 2nd, Harri Snelling and Cleo D 3rd, Phobe Fuller and Dundee Sandstorm 6th and Beth Stevens and Springtime Onya 8th. These great results put the team into 5th which was an excellent start to the season.
MID SURREY TET, April
Savannah Sartori came 5th out of 17 at her first Tet. Thanks to Charlie Chichester Kaner's excellent shooting coaching she came joint 2nd in the shoot and was also joint 3rd in the swim. We would love to find some other Junior Tetrathletes (10 & under) to make up teams with Savannah. Please contact Daniela Chichester Kaner.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE FOLLOWING ON PASSING THEIR C+:
Emily Stovold, Alice Hanson & Georgina Ambrose.

Rosie, Hannah, Bertie and Helena at Crofton Manor
GOODWOOD SHOW JUMPING, Crofton Manor, 12th April.
Our Mini Team of Hannah Ede on Parsley III, Rosie Jameson on Malibu, Bertie Cole-Fontayn on Conker and Helena Traill on Katie had the most fantastic first outing of the year. All of them were turned out beautifully and rode really well. In the warm up class, Hannah on Parsley and Rosie on Malibu rode brilliantly in the speed section of this Two Phase competition to come 5th and 6th respectively - out of 40 competitors! In the team competition our team rode two spectacular rounds; the first to achieve a team score of zero and get into the jump off, and the second against the clock over a shortened course. All four of them rode with great gusto and the team ended the day in 4th place. Bertie should be commended on jumping three clear rounds and Helena for gaining only 4 faults in the whole competition.
Our Junior Mounted Games Team of Olivia Leaning, Hannah Ede, Heather Godman and Giselle Stent had a brilliant day on 11th April, coming 5th in our competition at Eashing.
Well done to Megan Brown, Claudia Heanley, Rebecca Lewis, Helena Traill, Aimee Hammond-Essery and Rosie Allen who have all passed their C Test with very good feedback.
Many congratulations to Christopher Milton and Dougal, who came 9th individually in the Dressage Finals at the National Riding Clubs Championships at Hartpury. He and Katie Patrick both qualified for the Dressage and Show Jumping finals, where they proudly flew the flag for Chid Farmers'. See under Gallery.
Well done to Hannah Ede, Greta Gibbs, Beth Stephens, Lara Partridge, Charlotte Cruickshank and Bertie Cole-Fontayn who were the Best Turned Out in their rides at our recent rally.

AREA HORSEMAN'S QUIZ AND HORSE & PONY CARE, Sandhurst, 7th March
Our new trainer Chloe Collins stepped into Kathy's shoes in great style, seeing her well prepared teams do very well at the weekend. In the Quiz our teams finished equal 2nd on points, and 6th, but unfortunately after a 'sudden death' tiebreaker the Pink team dropped from 2nd to 5th. In the Horse & Pony Care in the afternoon our Senior team again finished equal 2nd on points but dropped to 3rd after the tiebreaker, whilst our Junior Team WON! Very well done to all and thank you for all the hard work you put in to train for this. This is our first qualification for the Championships in the Summer.
Well done to Charlie Chichester-Kaner, who came 5th in his first Senior competition at the Cowdray & Goodwood Branches Triathlon. His team also won.

CRAWLEY & HORSHAM SHOW JUMPING, Sands Farm 16/17th February
Our Two Novice teams had a good day out. Becky Cruickshank, Suzannah Monk, Lilli Meadows and Maddie Iafrate made up the Blue team and Claudia Heanley, Briony Pearson, Emily Brock and Ellie Lloyd Jones made up the Pink team. In the individual scurry six out of the eight riders went clear but unfortunately no one was fast enough to gain a placing. In the first round of the team competition Briony, Emily and Ellie went clear with Claudia just having one pole down but battling on despite losing a stirrup mid way and jumping the next few jumps with just one! All four of the Blue team jumped clear in the first round which meant both teams went through to the jump off. All four riders jumped off and in the Pink team Briony and Ellie jumped clear and the team finished on 4 faults. All four of the Blue team jumped lovely clear rounds and were placed 5th! Everyone enjoyed the day and showed great team spirit and the sun even came out which made a nice change
It was another rainy and cold day at Sands Farm, but 4 of our Intermediates braved the weather conditions and performed superbly! In the warm up class Indi, Georgie and Phoebe jumped lovely clear rounds with Katie only tipping one pole. In the team class Indi, Phoebe and Katie went clear with Georgie having one unlucky stop that resulted in a graceful dismount! 4 of the 10 teams went into the jump off and Indi, Phoebe and Katie performed amazingly well again with 3 more clear rounds to secure us a fabulous and well deserved SECOND PLACE!!!!!! - from a very proud Team Leader !
Welcome to our new Assistant DC, Kate Lawson
Well done to Emily Brock, Heather Godman, Charlotte Murphy, Hannah Ede, Maddie Iafrate and Rosie Meadowns who were the Best Turned Out in each of the rides at the Rally on 16th February. The standard was generally extremely high, so thank you all for making such an effort in such horrible weather. To those who forgot jackets, hairnets, plain numnahs, joddy clips etc please remember next time.

Intermediates Katie, Katarina, Phoebe and Suzannah finally enjoying the sunshine at the Rob Stevens Training on 17th January. We are very lucky to be able to use the Lawsons' fabulous school - after all the snow and thaw the surface was perfect
We are a delighted to report that Ben Leathers has agreed to be our Chief Instructor.
He has lots of exciting plans for us in 2010

ARDINGLY SHOW JUMPING 3rd January
Eight of our members braved the ice to compete at this very popular competition. Our team of Tots, Anna, Grace and Harri had a good day to finish 4th in the 3'3 class, whilst Georgie, Ellie, Alice and Indi had a good first outing at this height, with Indi being the only one of the 8 to go double clear. Thanks also to Sally Thurloway for being there for them - it makes all the difference to our success in this competition every year, and also Jane Vile who nobly made the trip to support our teams.
Well done to Beth Stephens, Alice Hanson and Charlotte Cruickshank for being Best Turned Out at the 31st December Rally. Quite a few members were without their Pony Club badge, which is an important part of correct turnout, so if you have lost yours or would like a second one for a different jacket, please contact Jane Vile. We said goodbye to our wonderful DC Rosie and welcomed our new DC Lisa.
Congratulations to Phoebe Fuller for winning the Points Prize and a lesson with Sally Thurloway at our Showjumping Show - for the second time. Phoebe said that it was thanks to her previous prize lesson with Sally that she jumped so well again this time!

The team who won this event last year won again by 600 points with Katarina coming 2nd, Suzannah 3rd, Indie 6th and Charlotte 12th. Charlie CK also won by 500 points individually. The team had a great day with their brilliant ponies Snip and Henry going round the x-country twice both times clear. Congratulations also to Katarina, who came 9th and Suzannah, who came 14th, at the National Pentathlon Championships in Birmingham at the end of August. It was their first Pentathlon and they are now very keen to do more!

Annie, Megan, Francesca and Florice - our winning Eventers and
Holly, Rosie, Luke and Hannah - our winning Showjumpers at the Southern Mini Championships
SOUTHERN MINI CHAMPIONSHIPS, Berkshire College, 30th August
Thank you to all our fabulous Mini competitors and their stalwart supporters for making this year's Mini Championships such a success. A lot of hard work has gone on this year to bring everyone on and prepare for this event.
Our Horse Trials team of Francesca Vallini on Malibu, Megan Brown on Dyno, Annie Murphy on Rupert and Florice Cole-Fontayn on Conker all rode their hearts out, as they have done all year, to WIN the whole competition, with good dressage tests and double clears all round. Individually in their respective sections they came 3rd, 1st, 1st and 4th - a fantastic result and a great credit to the four of them and their wonderful ponies.
Individually in the dressage Olivia Moriano on Jack was 5th in her arena and Holly Partridge on Bailery was 8th in hers. The other dressage competitors should all be congratulated on riding some really good tests - well done to Oliva Randell on Billy, Giselle Stent on Robin, Rosie Meadows on Mouse, Rosie Jameson on Ziggy, Hannah Ede on Parsley and Georgie Kemp on Midnight.
Our Show Jumping teams worked their socks off. The CF Tigers, Rebecca Lewis on Cotty, Rosie J on Ziggy, Moses Fiddian-Greeen on Major and Georgie Kemp on Midnight all rode superb clears in the first round, and then responded with great bravery to the testing second round. Well done to Moses who finished as top of the Tigers, even having been stung under the eye after the first round! The CF Lions, Holly Partridge on Bailey, Rosie Meadows on Mouse, Hannah Ede on Parsley and Luke Stent on Lightning rode brilliantly and ended the day with four stunning double clears. Only six teams got through to the jump off, and Luke and Lightning were chosen to ride on behalf of his team. Luke rode with great intelligence and Lightening responded like magic. They took the short route at every fence, and with their speed and sure footedness rode into the lead. No other rider managed to get near him, and Luke lead his team to a magnificent triumph. The Lions WON the whole competition!!

Charlotte, Katie, Susanna, Alice, Georgina, Indi, Phoebe & Katarina with all their rosettes
SOUTHERN NOVICE CHAMPIONSHIPS, Pachesham, 23rd August
What a brilliant end to a brilliant year for our Novices. At the Southern Novice Championships we had 8 keen eventers flying the flag for us and all 8 were placed individually. Alice Hanson on her first outing with Ombu WON her area, Susanna Milton and Dougal and Georgina Ambrose and George both went double clear to finish 3rd, Katie Patrick and Sue also came 3rd, Katarina Chichester Kaner and Snip came 4th, India Thompson on her first outing with Henry did a double clear to come 4th, Charlotte Murphy and Guinness came 6th and Phoebe Fuller and Toby came 8th. The team of Susanna, Charlotte, Alice and Katie finished 3rd and Phoebe, Georgina, Katarina and India finished 5th. An excellent round off to the year for the Novice section, which has seen some excellent riding, good results, huge progress made by horses and riders, brilliant team spirit and sportsmanship, and loads of lemon drizzle cake! Here's to next year.

Ella, Chloe and Rebecca on the winners' podium at
The Pony Club Championships
PONY CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS, Draycott House, 17th August
We are absolutely delighted to report that our Senior Horse & Pony Care Team of Chloe Collins, Rebecca Brown and Ella Sparkes WON this stiff competition by a margin of 20 clear points to become National Champions. The questions are mainly at B test level and above and this is a brilliant achievement due in no small part to the fantastic training they receive from Kathy Merrick. It was Chloe's 8th attempt at the title and she has been in the 2nd placed team several times, so well done Chloe for perserverance!
Anna Lawson, Tots Hanson and Laura Normand went up to Dracott House for the Open Eventing as they qualified as the winning team at Iping. Ali's horse was sadly lame so he could not ride there with them. The course was very technical, with lots of skinnies, and a water complex which saw lots of eliminations and retirements. It was a real Championship course, as many of them found out. Tots completed, and I am sure next year they will be aiming to get up there again. Anna and Katie Harper also qualified for the open dressage championships, and rode there too. They all did brilliantly to get up to Draycott House, especially as they were all first timers, apart from Katie, who has been a regular at the Championships!

Our brilliant Minis, Annie, Holly, Florice and Francesca
ROMNEY MARSH ODE, 16th August
The Mini Team and all their supporters (two wonderful Dads included!!) had a lovely day down at the Romney Marsh ODE. Holly Partridge on Bailey was a Team member for the first time, with Annie Murphy on Rupert, Francesca Vallini on Malibu and Florice Cole-Fontayn on Conker. Everyone put in fabulous double clears to WIN the team competition. Francesca won her section, Annie was second in hers and Florice fifth in hers.

Our Open Area Showjumpers Harri, Laura and Emma and
our 4th placed Minis Francesca, Florice, Megan and Holly
AREA SHOW JUMPING, Cranleigh, 4th August
In a day of mixed fortunes for the Chid Farmers, our Mini Eagles (Francesca Vallini, Florice Cole-Fontayn, Megan Brown and Holly Partridge) came a brilliant 4th out of 24 teams. The Mini Hawks (Hannah Ede, Luke Stent, Rosie Meadows and Briony Pearson) came 7th. Francesca and Hannah both jumped three lovely clear rounds and Florice, Luke, Rosie and Briony all jumped double clear - what an achievement! In the Novices, Grace Lloyd Jones jumped three stylish clear rounds to finish Individual 2nd and Phoebe Fuller finished on just 4 faults. The Novice B team of Georgina Ambrose, Charlie Chichester Kaner, Ellie Lloyd Jones and Chris Milton finished 12th and were 4th in Tack & Turnout. Louise Normand jumped two skilful clear rounds as an individual in the Intermediate Class to finish 8th. The Open Team of Emma Copestick, Laura Normand and Harri Snelling came 3rd in the Tack & Turnout. Emma jumped a fantastic clear round at 3'9 and we were delighted to have her back representing the branch.

Our soggy Novices at Area Dressage
AREA DRESSAGE, Eashing, 1st August
Another brilliant result for Anna Lawson - she came 3rd in her Open Arena and qualified as an individual for the Pony Club Championships! Other results in the Open Classes were Beth Stephens and Emma Copestick 4th in the Warmup and Katie Harper 4th in the Qualifier. In the Intermediate Class, Susannah Milton and Louise Normand came 6th, whilst Alice Hanson came 5th in her Intermediate debut. The Intermediate team finished 6th. Our Novice teams endured a very soggy afternoon to come away with brilliant results. In the warm up class 5 of the 7 were placed - Ellie 2nd, Christopher (riding a borrowed horse) 3rd, Georgina 4th, Grace 6th and Charlotte 7th. In the Area test Grace WON, Charlotte was 3rd, Katarina 4th, Ellie 7th and Christopher 8th. The team of Ellie, Grace, Katarina and Georgina finished in 3rd place, just missing qualification for the Championships. Grace qualified as an individual to go to the Championships, but unfortunately cannot go. Katarina also was given a qualification place but cannot go either, but to fly the flag for us Charlotte was also given a qualification place and will be able to go, so best of luck for Cheshire.
Our Winning Area Tetrathletes Indi, Charlie, Suzannah,
Katarina and Charlotte
AREA 11 & 13 TETRATHLON, Eridge, 26th & 27th July
What an excellent weekend for the Chid Farmers - we WON the Area 13 Tet Salver again and the team came a very close 2nd overall across both areas. Katarina came 3rd individually, Suzannah 8th with the best run, 12th for Indi and Charlotte 13th. The Chichester Kaner's pony Snip was a star as he had to go round twice. Charlie came 2nd and won the Area 13 Junior boys cup again - with the best shoot and swim - the broken leg is obviously better! The Area 13 girls team also WON - Katarina was in this one and the B team of Charlotte, Suzannah and Indi came 3rd.

Our Winning Open Area Eventing Team of Tots, Anna, Laura & Ali and Emily Stovod and Louise Normand, our Individually placed Intermediates
AREA HORSE TRIALS, Iping, 11th July
How fantastic and exciting - our Open team of Tots, Ali, Anna and Laura have qualified for the Championships! They all did very well in their dressage arenas, achieving excellent scores, and Laura in particular, who won the best dressage award for her arena. The show jumping course, on a slope and very slippery because of the rain, threw up cricket scores - Tots and Anna went clear, two of the very few clear rounds at this level of the competition. The cross country was very technical with a number of offset combinations, and as a result there were lots of penalties. But clear rounds from our team, and over all the direct routes, made sure that not only did they qualify for the Championships (and only one team did) but they WON quite easily. Ali came 7th in his arena, Tots and Anna WON their arenas. All 4 members were first timers at this level, and Tots and Anna shared the award for the highest placed first timers. We had an Intermediate team of three, Harri, Louise and Emily, all with relatively new horses. They all did nice dressage tests, and once again showed how well they could do in the show jumping, producing two clear rounds when poles were falling all over the place. The cross country course was quite stiff, and Chid Farmers finished with Louise coming 4th on Jack and Emily 7th on Monty, very good results for such new combinations. In the Novice Class Grace Lloyd Jones was a brilliant 2nd with a dressage of 29.6, Ella Lloyd Jones 6th and Leah Peatroy 6th.

PETERSFIELD ONE DAY EVENT, Coombelands, 5th July
A brilliant day for the Novices! We had 11 people competing at this event, with 2 strong teams and 3 individuals. Dressage went well for our doubles (the 2 Lloyd-Jones, Ellie and Grace and the 2 Susanna/Suzannahs, Milton and Monk) and Katarina Chichester Kaner. This was followed with good double clears from Grace, Susanna, Suzannah, Katarina and Charlotte Murphy. Georgina Ambrose unfortunately had to pull out of the XC because George lost a shoe in the SJ. but this did not stop the team of Grace, Susanna Milton, Katarina and Georgina WINNING the event with Grace coming individual 2nd, Katarina 3rd and Susanna 4th, and the other team of Ellie, Suzannah Monk, Phoebe Fuller and Charlotte coming 4th, with Suzannah individual 2nd. Our 3 individuals, Hannah Murphy, Charlie CK and Katie Patrick also completed successfully.
HICKSTEAD QUALIFIER, Smith's Lawn, 28th June
Well done again to our brilliant new Open Showjumpers. The team of Tots Hanson, Harri Snelling and Ali Inman came 4th in the competition, just missing qualifiction for Hickstead, and 3rd in the Tack & Turnout

CHIDDINGFOLD FARMERS' ONE DAY EVENT, Stilemans, 21st June
Well done to Tots Hanson, who WON her Open Arena, and to Ali Inman who came 8th. Together with Laura Normand, the Open Team came 3rd.

Our 80cm and 90cm Teams at Rogate
CHIDDINGFOLD ONE DAY EVENT, Rogate, 7th June
We were represented by 21 members, over half of whom were placed - is that a record?! In the Level One, Hannah Ede and Luke Stent both came a brillliant 3rd and Rosie Jameson came 5th. The team (including Rosie Meadows) came 3rd. Holly Partridge, riding as an individual in her first One Day Event came a fantastic 4th. In the Level 2, Francesca Vallini scored yet another confident win, with Florice Cole- Fontayn coming 4th, the team (including Annie Murphy and Megan Brown) finishing 4th. Grace Lloyd Jones and Ellie Lloyd Jones both came 2nd, Grace having an unbelievable Best Dressage score of 12.5, in an arena where others scored in the 30s and 40s. Susanna Monk came 6th. Chris Milton also had a great dressage of 17.9, but had to withdraw in the SJ. In the Level 3, Katarina Chichester Kaner came 7th and Leah Peatroy came 5th. Very well done to all!
GARTH HUNT ONE DAY EVENT, Smith's Lawn, 31st May
Our Open team came 3rd, a really good result as this was the first time all of them, Ali, Anna and Tots, had competed at this height for Pony Club eventing. The show jumping was not an easy course, and the cross country was twisty and a lot of it through woods, definitely not a galloping course. Individually, Anna came third in her arena, and Tots sixth in her arena. Ali, who has been doing university exams, had not jumped his horse since the beginning of April until this week, and would have been well placed in any other arena with his good score.

AREA MOUNTED GAMES, Eashing Farm, 30th May
Hannah Ede, Olivia Leaning, Grace Jelley and Luke and Giselle Stent came 3rd in the tack and turnout and 4th in the competition. They all sparkled, as can be seen above!!

Our 2nd Placed Mini SJ Team at Cowdray with
Francesca on Malibu Individual 2nd
Open Team at Cowdray - Sadly for Ali, the Aston Martin
was not the prize!
COWDRAY SHOW JUMPING, 28th May
Ali Inman, Harri Snelling and Anna Lawson came 2nd in the Open Teams. This was a really brilliant result as not only was this a new height for all of them, but they were a team of just three - they were superstars! The course was a very full up, twisty, technical course, on a sloping field, and to come second was a really good achievement. Anna, on her 14h pony Indian Princess, came 4th in the warm up class, and in the team event, with the second round at 3'9", she came a brilliant and confident individual 2nd. Our Mini Team of Luke Stent, Bertie Cole-Fontayn and Hannah Ede were ably led by Francesca Vallini. They all rode for their lives and came a very well deserved 2nd in the team competition. Francesca also rode beautifully to come 2nd in the Individual Class on the great Malibu. Well done all of you: your turnout was immaculate, you rode with magnificent style and were a great credit to your Pony Club and to your supporters. The Novice team of Leah Peatroy, Katie Patrick, Grace and Ellie Lloyd-Jones tackled their difficult course well. Two rounds were required from each member with Grace, Ellie and Katie producing at least one super clear each. It was fantastic to have to have all this new talent to add to the novice teams and also was a wonderful opportunity to meet new members and make new friends for the girls and the mums.
INTER AREA TETRATHLON, Stockland Lovell, 27th May
Katarina Chichester Kaner was selected to make up the Area 13 team with 3 girls from other Branches in our Area and they WON this tough competition. Katarina also WON individually. Our Branch team of Katarina, Suzannah Monk and Indi Thompson came 8th and all achieved Personal Bests in their Swims. Our Tetrathletes really must be congratulated on their incredible successes and thanks also to their dedicated parents and particularly Tim and Daniela Chichester Kaner who do a huge amount of organising. We hear there may be a Parents Team at the South Berks Tetrathlon in October!!
GARTH SOUTH ONE DAY EVENT, Tweseldown, 24th May
Garth South set a really big challenge for the Novice teams at Tweseldown in the 90cm class. We started off well with Katarina CK, Georgina Ambrose and Christopher Milton all performing excellent dressage tests, and the well up to height SJ course caused no problems for Phoebe Fuller, Georgina, Charlotte Murphy and Christopher. The XC course was huge and quite technical, and really took its toll on competitors in the class, but Georgina, Phoebe and Leah Peatroy flew round clear to help their team (plus Katarina) finish in 4th place, with Georgina finishing 2nd individually. Katie Patrick was the 3rd member of the other team and did really well for her first time out at this height, just coming unstuck at the water having cleared all the earlier technical fences.
NEW FOREST TET, 17th May
Katarina came a very good 1st, Suzannah came 7th with the Best Run medal and Charlotte came 12th. The team came second. All girls broke their Personal Bests
PETERSFIELD FRIENDLY 19th April/CHIDD FARMERS FRIENDLY 9th May
The first outing for our Junior mounted games team was on the 19th April. Luke and Giselle Stent, Olivia Leaning and Hannah Ede found that their practice paid off, and they finished an extremely creditable 9th out of 16 teams. On 9th May we had another good day - we entered a team in the 9 and under section, which was Giselle, Hannah, Olivia Leaning and Olivia Moriano. The girls were fantastic, and came FIRST, winning three of their races outright! The girls were then joined by Luke Stent to form our Junior team. This competition was a lot tougher, with many older children, and teams from all over the south entered. The Chiddingfold Farmers team rode very well, and managed to improve on their last performance by finishing in 8th place! Special mention to Luke, for not making any mistakes AT ALL; to Olivia Leaning for surviving an unexpected and extremely energetic 'bronco' from her pony Story, and then carrying on despite it; to Olivia Moriano for coping very well with joining the team at the last minute and being so confident; to Giselle for motivating Robin so well, and never complaining; and to Hannah for putting up with her Mum being the trainer, and keeping Parsley so calm, even though he wanted to gallop everywhere!

Best Chid Farmers Mini Individuals and Winning Mini Team

Best Chid Farmers Novice Individuals and Novice Teams
CHIDDINGFOLD FARMERS ONE DAY EVENT, Coombelands, 3rd May
Our members had a very good day! In the Minis, Florice Cole-Fontayn and Francesca Vallini both came 2nd in their arenas, Annie Murphy came 4th and Hannah Ede came 7th. The team WON! Tamara Chiltern-Hunt went HC but had a very good score which would have earned her a place in the class. In the Novices, Phoebe Fuller and Katarina Chichester Kaner came 2nd, Susanna Milton came 3rd, Susannah Monk, Georgina Ambrose and Leah Peatroy came 4th and Ellie Lloyd Jones came 5th. The team of Katarina, Georgina, Leah and Chris Milton came 2nd and the team of Susanna, Phoebe, Anna Passmore and Hannah Murphy came 5th.
MID SURREY TET, Walton on the Hill, 26th April
Indi Thompson did the full tet and came 3rd overall and Katarina Chichester Kaner and Charlotte Murphy did the tri part HC and did very well - Katarina got the best shoot of 940.

3rd Placed Mini Mini Team & Novices at Bisley ODE
BISLEY ONE DAY EVENT, Dunstall Green, 19th April
The first ODE of the season was taken on with great enthusiasm by our Minis and their supporters. The Mini Mini team (11 and under) started the day brilliantly at their first ever proper ODE: Rosie Meadows on Mighty Mouse, Hannah Ede on Parsley III, Luke Stent on Little Lightning and Rosie Jameson on Ziggy all rode their hearts out and came a fantastic 3rd, while Rosie J was 6th individually. The Mini team of Florice Cole-Fontayn on Conker, Francesca Vallini on Malibu, Annie Murphy on Rupert and Tamara Chiltern-Hunt on Prince have matured hugely since last season and rode very well to WIN their competition with great style and composure. Tamara was 4th in her section, Annie 2nd in hers and Francesca and Florice WON theirs respectively. They pipped a mixed Novice/Mini Team of Charlotte Murphy on Guinness, Julia Normand on Jack and Ellie LLoyd-Jones on Kilcarroll Lad into second place. Congratulations to Julia on coming 4th individually, Charlotte 3rd and Ellie 2nd. Following on from the successes of our mini teams, our novice teams of Phoebe Fuller, Christopher Milton, Lilli Meadows, Georgina Ambrose, Leah Peatroy, Katarina Chichester-Kaner, Hannah Lewis and Suzannah Monk had a really good day - albeit a long one! Georgina set a very high standard by performing a stunning 21.4 dressage test. The show jumping went well for most, but unfortunately George decided to remind Georgina that horses are great levellers!. Everyone set off round the quite demanding cross country course with real determination and 6 of them went clear. Final results eventually came out late into the evening with good results individually for Katarina 2nd, Lilli 4th, Georgina 4th, Christopher 4th, Suzannah 8th and the Blue Team of Lilli, Phoebe, Christopher and Georgina coming 4th. Well done to everyone - a brilliant start to the season.

3rd Placed Mini Mini Team & 6th Placed Novice Team at Bisley SJ
BISLEY SHOWJUMPING, Dunstall Green, 29th March
The Novice Team of Hannah Lewis, Arthur Cole-Fontayn and Georgina Ambrose all rode well and showed great improvement in their second rounds to come 6th. The Minis fielded a Mini Mini Team of Giselle Stent, Holly Partridge, Hannah Cobb and Vicky Cobb and a Mini Team of Rebecca Lewis, Bertie Cole-Fontayn, Rosie Meadows and Francesca Vallini. It was the first time the Mini Minis had had an outing at this level: they did fantastically well with a perfect jump off ridden by Holly and Bayley to come 3rd. The Mini Team all rode really well, but were just out of the places - well done to Bertie and Conker, also on their first outing at this level, for their fabulous double clear.

Major Novice & Minor Novice SJ Teams, Sands Farm March 09
SURREY UNION PC SJ, Sands Farm, 14th & 15th March - In the Minor Novice event the team of Katarina CK, Suzannah Monk & Charlotte Murphy all jumped clear to put them through to the Jump Off where they finished 6th, and the Major Novice team of Phoebe Fuller, Georgina Ambrose and Charlie CK went through with 4 faults to the JO and came 5th. Katarina also came 5th and Georgina 10th individually. In the Minis, the team was Francesca Vallini (Malibu), Megan Brown (Dino), Hannah Ede (Parsley), Rebecca Lewis (Cotty). Beautiful sun started us off to a good day, with plenty of big smiles. We all had a good warm up round, the team then had a good course walk which was made up of some good questions to start the season, plenty of turns and doubles not to forget the coloureds. It is always nice to hear the more confident older children helping the others! All the girls rode a super first round, with the Panthers getting their three clears to qualify for the jump-off, in which all 4 members were required to jump off. We had a few nerves but as ever the team all got together to spur each other on. We had some lovely quick and clear rounds (most of which had ..... some ...... control!!). Unfortunately not quite quick enough - we were beaten into fourth place but it was very tight with only 4 seconds between us and the winners. Well done - a really super day out. Give your ponies a good pat for a really good job!

Particular congratulations to Anna for going triple clear in her first Intermediate Team competition.
Ardingly, 2nd January - The Novices braved the arctic conditions to compete in the 2'9 teams show jumping event. In the scurry all 4 team members went clear - a great start! In the team event, Georgina Ambrose had a lovely clear round on George. Leah Peatroy followed on Tiger Lily with a very unlucky pole - the second part of the double which caught a number of competitors out. Charlie Chichester-Kaner on Rory had two poles, but India Thompson on Tetley finished on another lovely clear. All four team members went at a cracking pace which meant they were the fastest "4 faults team", finishing 5th out of 21 teams. A great start to the year - well done you four!

Hannah Lewis came 8th, Emma Harridge came 4th, Annie Murphy came 4th and Francesca Vallini came 2nd

AREA SHOW JUMPING, BCA 3/8/08
Open - Charlotte Gray was our only representative and jumped two fantastic and beautifully ridden clear rounds.
Intermediate - It was not the best day for our team, although Louise Normand did jump clear in the first round!
Novice - Another long, wet day at Berkshire College! Our two teams were spotless and gleaming for the Tack and Turnout Competition - thanks for the hard work, you were a credit to the Pony Club. Neither team were placed in the competition but all riders rode well, and coped well with the conditions. Georgina Ambrose, Madeleine Iafrate and Anna Lawson went clear in the first round, and Anna von Radowitz & Anna Lawson went clear in the second, which meant that Anna Lawson was eligible for the jump off. Supported by a very enthusiastic crowd of Chidd Farmers we lived every second of her risky, but successful round that WON her the class, and the qualification for the Championships.
Mini - There was a mini competition at Area and although it was not a qualifier, it gave the minis a taste of a big competition. Emma Harridge jumped two lovely clear rounds on Billy.
AREA DRESSAGE, BCA 31/7/08
Open - Our team of Charlotte Gray, Katie Harper, Charlotte Wheeler and Anna Rickenberg finished 7th. We had some consistent placings, the best of which was Charlotte Gray who came 5th in both tests. Hannah Murphy as an individual also came 5th in the warmup, whilst in the Open test, Charlotte Wheeler came 5th and Anna Rickenberg came 6th. This is the first season of dressage for Anna's horse (a former showjumper) so she was very pleased with him.

The team of Madeleine Iafrate, Anna Lawson, Lilli Meadows and Christopher Milton came 4th, with Madeleine coming equal 2nd in the Area qualifier and earning a place at the Championships. AREA HORSE TRIALS, BCA 20/7/08
Open - Our team of Katie Harper, Chloe Collins, Sam Dracott and Charlotte Wheeler also did really well, and came second. Normally the first and second placed teams qualify for the Championship but this year only the team placed first qualified, which was a real shame for our team. Katie qualified as an individual and will be going up to Derbyshire, so very well done to her.
Intermediate - Our team of Hannah Murphy, Emily Stovold, Louise and Laura Normand WON and have qualified for the Pony Club Championships in August in Derbyshire. Emily and Hannah both came 2nd in their arenas while Louise & Laura came 8th. Our other team of Kirsten Pressler (individual 4th), Ali Inman (ind 3rd) and Rachel Passmore (ind 5th) also did very well, and came 4th. Kirsten qualified for the Championships as an individual, and will be going up to Derbyshire as well. All seven riders got placed which is a fantastic result and they should be very proud of themselves and their horses.
Our Novices also did extremely well with Madeleine Iafrate WINNING her Arena on a fantastic dressage score of 24.3 and qualifying for Cheshire as an Individual. Evie Crosdil came 6th and Anna von Radowitz came 7th with their mixed team also coming 6th.
