Reports 2008
Southern Novice Championships 31/8/08
Another wet day - who'd call this summer! 5 Teams - 14 children and ponies, all performed very well at the Championships with excellent results.
The Horse Trials Team of Anna von R, Lilli, Georgina and Madeleine did a fantastic job coming 3rd as a team, with Madeleine 1st in her section.
The Dressage team of Christopher on Dougal, Charlotte, Ella and Arthur came 2nd, with Christopher winning his arena and both Arthur and Charlotte coming 7th, and the team of Emma Harridge, Leah, Rebecca and Christopher on Looby Lou came 6th with Emma coming 5th.
The Show Jumpers - Christopher, Alice, Sarah Hodson, Livia, Leah, Arthur, and Rebecca found the first round rather tricky, but the 2nd round jumped much better with clears for Sarah and Livia, and both teams finished with 1 fault difference between the 2 teams - consistent if nothing else!!
Well done to everyone, a fantastic climax to the season for the Novices!
HH ODE Rogate 24/8/08
Novice report; On Sunday Aug 24th four of our novices competed at the HH one day event at Rogate. Georgina and Leah completed just out of the placings , Christopher came 3rd on Looby Loo and Lilly and Lance did extremely well in their first 3' 3” class, winning their section, with the best dressage score. Well done.
Mini report; The day started very wet and soggy but the seniors were up first, the sun came out for us which was great, but the ground was pretty boggy and churned up but it didn't seem to upset our little lot who again clearly had a very succesful day out. Hannah Lewis came 8th Emma Harridge came 4th Annie Murphy came 4th Francesca Vallini came 2nd and Phoebe Fuller, Rosie Meadows and Megan Brown also competed.
PC Novice Championships, Cheshire 23-24/8/08
A fantastic result for Anna Lawson in the Show Jumping where she came 7th out of 54. Anna jumped double clear on Willow and then was the fastest 4 faulter in the jump off.
PC Open and Intermediate Championships, Draycott House 20-23/8/08
Well done to everyone who competed at the new Pony Club Championship venue at Draycott House, Nottingham. Our Senior H&PC Team of Chloe, Ella and Christopher came a fantastic 3rd behind the third time title winners of Sandown Chase and close rival Atherstone Hunt. Our Junior team of Evie, Anna and Megan also competed and came 10th in a close fought competition.
In the Eventing our Open Individual of Kate Harper had an unfortunate stop at the difficult water complex but was thrilled with her round after Marley's recovery from a fractured skull at last years Champs.
Our Intermediates all had fantastic clear XC rounds and our team of Louise, Ali, Hannah and Emily came 6th with Louise coming 5th in her arena with a double clear and a good dressage score.
WELL DONE TO EVERYONE IT WAS A BRILLIANT FEW DAYS
Cowdray ODE - 10 August
A really nice little event and a really good starter event for Luke, who did tremendously well. It was all very relaxed and we all had a great day out. Luke Stent 6th, Rosie Meadows, Briony Pearson 3rd, Francesca Vallini 2nd and Megan Brown 8th. Well done to everyone.
AREA SHOW JUMPING 3/8/08 BCA
Novice report; Another long, wet day at Berkshire College! Our two teams were spotless and gleaming for the Tack and Turnout Competition - thanks for the hard work, you were a credit to the Pony Club - shame the judging was a farce! Neither team were placed in the competition but all riders rode well, and coped well with the conditions.
Georgina, Madeleine and Anna L went clear in the first round, and Anna von R & Anna L went clear in the 2nd, which meant Anna L was eligable for the jump off. Supported by a very enthusiastic crowd of Chidd Farmers we lived every second of her risky, but successful round that WON her the class, and the qualification for the Championships.
The other team riders were Christopher, Lilli, Evie and Anna P. Despite the weather and lenghty gaps between rounds, all seemed to have a fun time together and the team atmosphere was brilliant - supporting all the successful and unsuccessful members of the teams.
Well done everyone.
AREA DRESSAGE 31/7/08
Novice report; Our two teams had a very successful day with team and individual places gained by 5 out of the 8 members. The team of Madeleine, Anna L, Lilli and Christopher came 4th, with Madeleine coming equal 2nd in the Area qualifier so earning a place at the Championships. Chris was 2nd in the Warm-up test and 5th in the Novice Area test, Anna L came 3rd in the warm-up. The team of Arthur, Anna von R, Katarina and Charlotte came 9th, with Katarina coming 8th in the Novice Area Test, Charlotte 4th in the Novice Area and 7th in the warm up test.
Well done to everyone and good luck to Madeleine at the Champs.
South Berks PC ODE, Beech Hill, Reading 26/7/08
Novice report; We had two teams competing on Saturday at the ODE at Priory Farm. Our team of Christopher, Arthur and Leah competed in the 2'6" event with great success. The XC proved difficult for many competitors, but ours all went clear following good dressage tests. Individually Arthur came 2nd, Christopher 3rd, and Leah 6th, and the team came 1st. The 2'9" team of Maddie, Katarina, Lilli and Anna von R also did very well, finishing 2nd. Charlie and Kirsten as Individuals also did well, and together with two outsides, their team narrowly beat our team.
Well done everyone.
Mini report; "Our Mini Team of Annie Murphy, Florice C-F and Charlotte Murphy had great fun together at this lovely event. Annie and Rupert did really well to come 6th individually, and the team came home second - well done ladies."
AREA EVENTING, 20 July
Open and Intermediate levels,
Our members had a very sucessful day at Berkshire College of Agriculture.
Our intermediate team of
Hannah, Emily, Louise and Laura won and have qualified for the Pony Club Championships in August in Derbyshire.
This was so exciting, they did brilliantly and well deserved their win.
Our other team of Kirsten, Ali and Rachel also
did very well, and came fourth. Kirsten also qualified for the
Championships as an individual, and will be going up to Derbyshire as well. All seven riders got placed which I think is a fantastic result and they should be very proud of themselves and their horses.
Their placings are:
Louise Normand 8th
Ali Inman 3rd
Hannah Murphy 2nd
Kirsten Pressler 4th
Laura Normand 8th
Emily Stovold 2nd
Rachael Passmore 5th
Hannah and Emily qualified as individuals to go to the Championships but as they were in the winning team and were going anyway, their qualifications passed on down the line.
The Open Team of Katie, Chloe, Sam and Charlotte W also did really well,
and came second! Normally the first and second placed
teams qualify for the Championship but this year only the team placed first qualifies, which of course is a real shame for our team.
But Katie qualified as an individual and will be going up to Derbyshire, so
very well done to her.
Placings are:
Katie 2nd
Sam 7th
Novice Level.
Our Novices also did extremely well with Madeleine Iafrate winning her Arena on her fantastic dressage score of 24.3 and qualified for Cheshire as an Individual. Evie Crosdil came 6th and Anna von Radowitz came 7th with their mixed team also coming 6th . Well done to everyone who took part.
Area Tetrathlon 12-13/7/08
We did the Area tet this weekend - sadly we did not manange to get a team together which was a shame - never mind. Katarina Chichester Kaner came 5th ind. and her team 5th. Suzannah Monk came 10th ind. and her team 6th.
Smith's Lawn Show Jumping 6/7/08 Open report; Unfortunately we could not get a team together, so could only send individuals to the Qualifier at Smiths Lawn.
Lucy Williams did brilliantly and came 7th in the 3'3"-3'6" warm up class, and then came second individually in the
qualifier, 3'9" in the second round, with a double clear. This was a
really great result, especially as Lucy's Joe is a pony, not a horse.
Unfortunately only teams, not individuals, can qualify to go on to Hickstead, but she really had a great day at Smith's Lawn.
Intermediate report; Two teams represented us at Smith's Lawn in the Intermediate team jumping competition. The weather was foul, the ground very slippery and a large number of competitors failed to get round the course because of the conditions. Anna L, Christopher, Anna P and Kirsten were unplaced as a team, but Anna von R, Arthur, Lilli and Georgina came 4th, after Anna von R did an excellent clear in the jump off. Individually only two competitors finished on a double clear so Kirsten, Anna von R, Lilli and Anna L, who only had 4 faults over the two rounds were called to jump off. Unfortunately this information came very late and Lilli and Anna L horses were back in their boxes ready to go home for a hot bath and dry stable, so opted not to jump. Anna von R and Kirsten decided to brave the elements and Anna came 5th and Kirsten 6th.
Well done to everyone, lets hope the next outing is dryer and everyone is back on top form. Chiddingfold Farmers' Horse Trials- Stilemans 22/6/08
Open report; We were not able to enter a team for Class 1, the open class, but our two individual members, Holly Lubbock and Tots Hanson, did really well in their arenas.
Holly came second on Sam, and Tots came seventh on Bear. Well done to
both of them, and hopefully we will have an open team next year!
Intermediate report; We had 4 Chid Farmer teams in the intermediate class, which was a fantastic turnout, and it was great to see some new faces competing at this level, and doing so well.
Placings were as follows:
Hannah Murphy 3rd
Louise Normand 5th
Emily Stovold 8th
Ali Inman 10th
There a number of double clear rounds, including three Annas:
Anna Lawson, Anna Rickenberg, and Anna von Radowitz, and also Emily and Louise.
Amy Walters did a lovely dressage test and was awarded Best Dressage in her arena.
Congratulations to all of you, and lots to look forward to for the rest of the year and ahead to 2009!
Chiddingfold PC ODE at Rogate 15/6/08
Novice report; Unfortunately only four were able to compete on the day due to last minute horse problems, but we were luckily able to combine as one team which just finished out of the team placings. Individually Lilli and Lance did a stunning dressage test, Christopher came 3rd on Looby Lou and Georgina came 3rd on George (really pleasing as both combinations are new to eventing). Anna von Rad. worked hard to get Cori around the XC after good dressage and SJ. Well done everyone.
Mini report; Class 1 - Emma Harridge came 10th in her section, unfortunately Rosie Meadows was eliminated in the x-country, and Jess Haller was unfortunately eliminated in the show jumping for not repeating the first part of the double.
Class 2 - Phoebe Fuller did very well coming 1st in her section as well as the best dressage, Francesca Vallini also completed the day well coming 10th in her section, Annie Murphy had a good day, but unfortunately Briony Pearson was eliminated in the x-country although was then allowed to continue the course and finished successfully. The day went very well for us all and all the girls rode very well with lots of camaraderie.
Petersfield PC ODE at Coombelands 8/6/08
Novice report; Our Novices had a very enjoyable day with everyone doing a course walk, competing then eating many ice creams. The team of Charlie & Katarina Chichester Kaner, Georgina Ambrose and Caroline Brougham came 6th. Individually Caroline came 4th, Caitlin McConnell 7th and Katarina 8th. They all appreciated the Mini Team fan club as they Show Jumped!
Mini report; Our Mini jockeys had great fun together, and everyone had a very happy day. We had two teams out, The Panthers; Florice, Francesca, Annie and Rosie and The Leopards; Charlotte, Phoebe, Hannah and Rebecca who came in third. Individually, Florice and Charlotte won their sections, and Phoebe cam sixth. Well done the Minis and their wonderful supporters.
Eridge Park ODE 2/6/08
Sam Draycott and Emily Stovold entered the open class (level 5) at Eridge.
Sam did a super dressage test (best dressage in his arena), double clear,
and won his arena. Well done, Sam, especially as he has been off with a
leg injury for a couple of months. Emily did a nice dressage, a very
unlucky
4 faults show jumping as her pony slipped slightly, and a lovely cross country round - this was Emily's first open and it really went well.
Hannah Murphy entered the intermediate class (level 4) on her horse Sonny, and got a fantastic dressage score, 27, plus a clear show jumping round.
Sonny picked up 20 penalties on the cross country, but did a fabulous round
- this is a new level for rider and horse and Hannah was delighted.
So it was a good day out for Chid Farmers, and hopefully lots more of you will be out for our ODE at Stilemans on 22 June.
Cowdray Show Jumping 30/5/08
Novice report; We had a good day yesterday with the Pink team coming third out of 14 in the team competition Anna Lawson, Lilli Meadows, Caitlin McConnell and Anna von Radowitz finishing on 4 faults. Anna Lawson jumped off with a spectacular clear round brilliantly ridden. Lilli also rode incredibly well and consistently throughout the day. Anna von R worked very hard indeed to get Cory around the course each time. The Blue team; Arthur Cole-Fonteyn, Kirsten Pressler and Sarah Hodson were not placed but all rode very well indeed. Anna Lawson came third in the individual class with a fabulous clear round. Mini report; In spite of the filthy weather, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and it was lovely to have some new Minis out representing the Chidd.
Farmers. The Pink team was Francesca, Annie Murphy, Rosie Meadows and
Florice and the Blue Team was Annie Fiddian Green, Jess Haller, Emma Haridge and Luke Stent. The Pink team were placed 5th after a hotly contested jump off ridden by Francesca on Malibu. Well done everyone.

South Berks Show Jumping 10/5/08
Well done to Sam Dracott for his WIN in the 3'6 by 11 seconds! and 4th in the 3'3. It was fantastic to see him back riding again after his knee injury. Congratulations also to Lucy Williams for her 4th place in the 3'6. Molly Key had an unfortunate 4 faults in each round and the team was not placed.
Hambleden Horse Trials 4/5/08
Our Intermediate team of Emily Stovold, Anna Rickenberg (on her new horse Trello Man), Louise and Laura Normand travelled to Oxfordshire for a challenging Intermediate Horse Trials at Hambleden (South Oxfordshire Hunt South). They had a brilliant day with Emily WINNING her arena and Anna and Louise coming 7th in theirs (just a showjump pole down each cost both them a much higher placing!). Overall the team finished SECOND which is brilliant for such a good competition. Poor Laura and her pony had a nasty fall, but happily they both seem OK now. They have all been very committed to their training, which is really paying off, and particular congratulations go to Emily.
Bisley Horse Trials 20/4/08
Novice report; Our novice Team of Madeleine Iafrate, Anna Lawson, Kirsten Pressler and Livia Turnbull came 6th with Madeleine 5th in her arena and Anna and Kirsten coming 6th in theirs.

Surrey Union PC 15th/16th March
Open report; The team consisted of Emma Copestick, Emily Stovold and Pip
Lewis. They and their horses were all new to this level at Pony Club,
and did
brilliantly. Emily and Pip came seventh and eighth respectively in the
individual warm up class, and in the team event at 3'6"/3'9", they were placed
fifth. Pip did a double clear in the team event and all those who had
jumped double clear went into a jump off, and she was placed eighth.
In the three rounds they did, the team only knocked two poles. So it
was a really good start to the season and lots to look forward to.
Well done to them, they really deserved their rosettes.
Novice report; Three novice teams represented us at the Surrey Union SJ competition on March 15th .2 teams jumped in the 2'6” – 2'9” class and 1 in the 2'9- 3' class. In the morning the teams unfortunately did not get through to the jump off but the bigger team finished on 4 faults and so had to jump off for a minor placing. Natasha did a fast round gaining them 9 th place. In the individual class Isabel Curran was placed 8 th in the larger class. Well done to everyone –Izzy C, Kirsten, Natasha, Lilli, Robbie, Livia, Izzie R, Katie, Anna Von R, Alice and Serena.

Crawley & Horsham PC Show Jumping, Sands Farm 19/2/08
Intermediate Report; Our Intermediate showjumpers had a brilliant day at the Crawley & Horsham show. Louise Normand and Anna Rickenberg jumped triple clear, Laura Normand jumped an excellent and very important clear in the jumpoff and Pip Lewis (who was last to go) did two brilliant clear rounds and then tried to match the very fast time set by the Eridge, resulting in an unlucky 4 faults but we still took 2nd place. We had a great fun day together as a new team combination. Anna Passmore did the competition as an individual, her first at this height, and jumped a very stylish and confident round with just 4 faults – well done to all!
Novice Report; Two teams represented us at the C & H SJ show on Feb 20th. All 8 riders and horses did us proud, especially Anna Von Radowitz, Madeleine Iafrate, Charlie Chichester Kaner and Kirsten Pressler who jumped 3 clears. Both teams got through to the jump off, with all members having to do the jump off. The Blue team of Christopher Milton, Madeleine, Isabel Curran and Anna finished on 4 faults, so finishing (by 1 second only) in 7th place, and the Pink team of Charlie, Lilli Meadows, Kirsten and Natasha Heneghan finished in 2nd place, being one of only 2 teams to go clear. Well done to both teams. Ardingly Show Jumping 2/1/08
Intermediate Report; The day was very successful for our combined Open and Intermediate Team. Charlotte Wheeler had a brilliant day and won the individual, which was over early and the other 3 just missed it. In the teams we finished on 4 faults – Charlotte W and Anna Rickenberg clear, Emily Stovold 4 and Katie Macdonald had a fall. There was 1 team on 0 so they won, and 5 teams on 4 faults. Sadly they chose not to jump off, but used times from the first round and as ours had jumped lovely technical (slow) rounds, we were last of the 5, so finished 6th. an ‘equal 2nd ‘ though!!!
