Our intermediate and open riders on their young horses training with Mark Corbett

Sandown Chase
Grace Jelley had a fabulous 2nd place in the 2ft3-2ft6 sj class run by Sandown Chase PC last on 8-1-12. This was a really good result as it’s a brand new partnership and the course was rather spooky with lots of refusals and run outs from other competitors!!!

In the PC intro 2007 Lilah Gibbs came 2nd and Becky Collins 10th in a very strong field with no age split. The Munckins also did brilliantly: Jack McKerron on Ellie WON the Walk & Trot Test lead rein section, Greta Gibbs on Wennie came 4th in the Assisted Walk & Trot and Kiara McKerron on Bilbo 5th. Watch out for them all at our show on Easter Monday!

Luke Stent did a nice round in the 2ft 6 to get 4th on Badger - well done to all our Senior Minis! Another young member, Becky Collins, did brilliantly to come 2nd in Class 1 on Sid. These are early days for Becky and Sid out competing and we were delighted to see that Mini Training is paying off so well for them.

Joe, William & Sienna at our Tetrathlon Prizegiving
Winning Biathletes William, Sienna, Tabitha and Emilia,

CFPC TETRATHLON, 9th & 16th October
All who took part in our annual Tetrathlon/Triathlon and Biathlon event enjoyed a wonderful day in the sunshine at Cranleigh school on Sunday 16th October following the riding phase the previous weekend which took place alongside the Hunter Trial. The remaining three phases started with the air pistol shooting in the sports centre, followed by swim and run.

There were over 70 competitors in total. Joe Lethbridge did wonderfully well to win the Mini Boys Championship cup with a total score of 4126 points including the best swim in his class. The best CFPC Mini girl was Heather Godman who came a very close 2nd in the run and Savannah Sartori was 2nd individual in the Munchkin tetrathlon. Our new Biathlon team of William and Tabitha Stinton, Sienna Sartori and Emilia McMonigall were placed first! William came 3rd individually and 2nd in the run, Sienna 5th Individually followed by Tabitha 6th and Emilia 9th - which is a fantastic result. Many thanks to all the parents who helped to run what was a very successful and much enjoyed event.

We'd really like to see even more Chiddingfold Farmers taking part next year. If anybody would like to come over and have a go at shooting please let Daniela Chichester Kaner know - we are planning to do some sessions during the Christmas and Easter holidays

Here is Joe's report from the day:
We were really looking forward to the tetrathlon, as it is my favourite event in the Pony Club calendar.
The weather was perfect, and when we arrived it was great to see so many competitors from many areas. At first we went down to the pool to help. The atmosphere was great with everyone cheering each other on, trying to squeeze out those extra few metres.

My first event was the shooting. I did well, it felt very well organised and profesional with lots of help from experienced people giving everyone lots of confidence in an obviously more serious setting. Next onto the swimming, luckily my stronger event. Driven on by the cheers I managed 1000 points! Much needed, as next was the running, not such a strong point. Once again the spirit from all the competitors was there and I managed a good time, enough to win and very unexpected.

We loved the day and it was great to see other Chidd farmers doing so well. Hopefully this will encourage more to have a go.

COBHAM BRANCH SHOW JUMPING, Sands Farm, 16th October

Livvy Randell, Rebecca Swain and Annie Murphy all jumped clear rounds in the individual Mini scurry with Annie coming 3rd and Rebecca 4th.
In the Mini team event, Olivia Leaning jumped a fab clear round, with Livvy, Annie & Rebecca all getting 4 faults each. We finished on 8 faults and came 6th, with only one team finishing on 0.

THE SOUTHERN MINI CHAMPIONSHIPS, Bisley, 4th September
We had the most amazing line up of six teams for the Mini Champs. Three Showjumping, two Dressage and one Eventing. The Eventing team of Rosie Jameson, Rosie Meadows, Bertie CF and Luke Stent came an overall 2nd! Rosie J WON her arena, Bertie came 2nd and Luke managed 7th. They all rode really determinedly and positively in the awful deluge of rain which saw many a xc competitor walking back with their pony rather forlornly. The Showjumping started with a lovely inviting course in dry conditions. Round two was rather a lot larger with fillers put in including some rather ‘scary spiders, radiant red brick wall and loud swirls’. Again the rain came down in torrents which saw a few stops from our Leopards team which was Amy Maris, Heather Godman, Annie Higgo and Ella Pilling. Special mentions to all four as Ella came in as a replacement only the afternoon before, and had been on holiday so had no practise hence she did fantastically well. Annie rode the most amazing gorgeous new pony Drisco whom she had had less than a week and had a wonderful double clear. Amy rode fantastically well on her stunning pony, as did Heather on Jaffa whose eyes were rather goggling at the loud fillers. Most amazingly team Chid Farmers Tigers of Amelia Traill, Savannah Sartori, Olivia Randell and Georgie Kemp went into the jump off against..... Chid Farmers Wildcats of Rebecca Swain, Grace jelley, Jeremy Harvie and Giselle Stent! The only two teams on 0 score. Amelia rode looking tiny on her sister's mare, but wonderfully with a double clear. Savannah too had a double clear probably over one of the biggest SJ courses on evergreen Fred. Olivia Randell revved up Billy to have a fantastic round as did Grace on the consistent Billy. Jeremy too was jumping over a bigger course and looked very confident – always with a smile – he is completely irresistible!! Georgie and Giselle went head to head. Giselle rode first, taking a tight turn that no one else had done, going for another tight turn and took a pull too soon whereas Lightning got confused and thought she meant stop. Georgie came in straight after being jumped off her feisty mare in the warm up and rode a beautiful controlled clear to win!! Georgie rode absolutely like an angel throughout the jumping, and totally deserved this!! So 1st and 2nd place!! Wow! Dressage was also a fantastic result with Rebecca, Lilah Gibbs and Giselle (on Robin) all winning their arenas. Savannah came 4th in hers and Autumn Brown 5th. Grace got 7th and Emma Thornton came 8th. Team Chid Farmers Lions of Grace, Rebecca, lilah and Olivia Randell finished 3rd with team Chid Farmers Panthers of Savannah, Autumn, Giselle and Emma came 4th. It was the most fantastic day. Everyone rode beautifully, looked wonderful, behaved impeccably and were a real credit to our Branch. The ‘first timers’ were absolute stars, and look forward to seeing more of them. Massive thanks to Chloe who team walked the competitors round the SJ, warmed them and the Dressage stars up, smiled all the time and was so supportive, encouraging and cheerful. Where does she get the energy – she is so impressive. Thanks to Anne Marie who was wonderful and in complete control of the xc team, including course walking, pointing out potential problems and how to deal with them and was a true superstar. Kathy who is incredible in her energy and enthusiasm for ‘her children and ponies’! And huge thank you’s to all the parents/families and supporters who were so lovely and loud and cheerful and supportive which the children absolutely love and thrive on!! Well done everybody!!

Megan, Emma, Caitlin and Giselle at HH ODE

HAMPSHIRE HUNT PC One Day Event, Rogate, 27th August.
Rosie Meadows rode superbly to finish 6th in her arena, with Rosie Jameson hard at her heels in 7th. Grace Jelley rode fantastically to finish 5th in her arena despite an eye boggling runout caused by free range partidges, as did Luke but he was unplaced!!

In the smaller class Giselle Stent managed third on Lightening in section A, with Caitin Fahy looking tiny but fully in control on a lovely big grey in 5th place. Giselle amazingly won the other section on Robin whom she has never competed xc and took best Dressage, and Emma Thornton came a fantastic 2nd in her very first xc on the lovely honest Benjy. Also in that section Megan Atkin rode beautifully to finish 4th on her very first ODE.

MANY CONGRATULATIONS TO KATIE PATRICK, ELLIE LLOYD JONES AND MADDIE IAFRATE, WHO HAVE ALL PASSED THEIR FULL B TESTS AND TO
EVIE CROSDIL
, WHO PASSED HER B TEST (HORSE & PONY CARE)
THIS TOOK A LOT OF PREPARATION AND THE RESULTS WERE ALL WELL DESERVED

AS SEEN ON TV!
A group of members paid a visit to Fitzpatrick Referrals, who are based at our home base of Eashing Farm. CFPC mum Juliet Barker is Practice Manager there and showed everyone the amazing facilities for badly injured dogs, cats and other small animals. It was a fascincating tour and we were very grateful to Juliet for allowing us to have a look round

Florice, Katarina and Zoe in Cheshire

THE NATIONAL NOVICE CHAMPIONSHIPS, Cheshire, 28th & 29th August
The Novice Championships were wet, more wet and got wetter! Despite this our 3 competitors and supporters had a wonderful time, keeping cheerful and focused on the challenges ahead. In the Dressage competition we had Florice and Piper, and they did an excellent test - Florice said the best test that Piper had ever done for her. Well assessed as she finished a fantastic 4th in her arena, just out of podium placings. Having done so well last year on Ben, a dressage specialist horse, this far exceeded Anne Marie’s and Florice’s expectations, and this was an excellent reward for all their hard work in transforming Piper and producing a test worthy of 74%. In the individual Show Jumping we had Zoe and Cherry and over a challenging course they did a good job, just having a few down. This was a good warm up for the individual Eventing section in which Zoe and Katarina on Haze competed. Katarina did a nice test, followed the next day by a copy book clear show jumping round in the pouring rain, but unfortunately Haze was not on her best behaviour for the challenging XC course and a very disappointed Katarina had to call it a day. Zoë benefited from her show jumping practice the day before to only have one fence down and then Cherry really came into her own on the XC course, where they sailed round without a single hesitation to go clear. This was no mean feat as many found out on the course, it was the biggest course Zoe had ever faced and it had its technical problems that caught many out. This pulled her right up the placings to finish a creditable 18th. Well done to you all for having got to the Champs, managed the exceedingly long traffic jam journey up, the continual drenching, the early start in the morning, the wet, cold tents, the friendly BBQ with Chid and HH competitors when the damp BBQs finally lit, and the wonderful camaraderie – which the Chid Farmers’ do best. I was very proud of you all and what a lovely last event for me to go to in official capacity as your team manager, thank you all for being so great and my foal is now officially the youngest member of the Chid Farmers’ Pony Club thanks to the generosity of all the past and present Novices. Thank you for all the pleasure you have given me over the years. DCs Note - we would like to add a massive thanks for everything Ros has done for us all over the years. Novice is a popular and very important section of The Pony Club and there is no doubt that Ros's enthusiasm and organisation have helped a large number of our members at this time of their riding careers. We have sent Ros a well deserved gift on behalf of the Branch and we hope to still see her in the future.

Great Team Spirit for Chiddingfold Farmers!

Our Novice competitors after prizegiving

THE SOUTHERN NOVICE CHAMPIONSHIPS, Heath Farm, 18th August
Our two teams of Novices - Katarina, Megan, Florice, Francesca, Tamara, Anna Webster and Alex were lucky not to get wet competing on Thursday at the Southern Novice Championships as it poured before and after they rode. All went well in the dressage phase, with some nice tests done by our riders, but due to a judge not turning up and a replacement (who was overly kind) having to be found on the spot to enable the competition to go ahead, it resulted in the 2 arenas having a huge difference in scores, which disadvantaged those in the tough arena. The SJ phase caused no problems to our girls and only one pole rolled between the 7 of them. The XC course was testing and caused quite a few problems over the day, but Florice went clear, Francesca went clear but picked up a few time penalties and Megan and Alex completed double clear. This gave Alex a 6th, Florice 7th and Megan 8th individually and the team of Katarina, Megan, Florice and Francesca came 7th. A lovely end to the day for me (Ros) was that not only was I really proud of the teams as the girls had ridden really well, looked very smart and supported each other so well, but they gave me a lovely present and card to say goodbye and thank you as this was my last team event as organiser of the Novices. Thank you very much, I shall miss doing this job but will still be supporting you and wish you all well.

COWDRAY PC ONE DAY EVENT, 18th August
Savannah Sartori WON the 2ft 3 ODE at Cowdray Pony Club. She was very pleased as she also got Best Dressage. Olivia Leaning WON the 2ft class, so 2 competitors from CFPC won 2 out of 3 classes. In addition, Miya Halsey was 5th in the MiniMini class so we had successes at every level - brilliant!

Our Intermediate Team at the Pony Club Championships - Katie, Grace, Suzannah and Holly

Holly and Ellie with their Individual Rosettes at the Championships

THE PONY CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS, Draycott, Derbyshire, 13th - 16th August
It was an outstanding four days with all six competitors taking home rosettes. OPEN DRESSAGE and OPEN EVENTING - Congratulations to Alice Hanson and Society Smooch who came 5th in their dressage section. They then went on to complete the Open Eventing for the first time with a beautiful clear round show jumping. INTERMEDIATE SHOW JUMPING TEAM – Congratulations to Suzannah Monk on Indian Princess who did a beautiful double clear. Holly Carter and Rebas Hi Flyer who had just one unlucky fence down on their second round and they were joined by Katie Patrick and Sue Me Sue, it was a great team effort for their first time at the Champs. INTERMEDIATE EVENTING TEAM - Congratulations to our Intermediate Eventing Team who all went clear XC and were placed 7th which was so exciting. Well done to Holly Carter and Rebas Hi Flyer who came 2nd in their section and who were also awarded a Craddock rosette for going double clear. They were joined by Grace Lloyd Jones and Classic, Katie Patrick and So Sue Me and Suzannah Monk and Indian Princess who also went double clear and were awarded a Craddock Rosette. Ellie Lloyd Jones on her new horse, Right Hand Man was an individual and was placed 5th in her section and awarded a Craddock rosette. These were brilliant results. We were all so proud of you at the mounted prize giving. A big thank you to all the Parents for your wonderful support and to Indi Thompson who helped everyone throughout the four days, also to Kate, Anna and Lottie who came up to support on the last day and to Mark Corbett who helped walk all the courses and keep everyone calm! We had a wonderful atmosphere at our base camp and The Chiddingfold Framers Tent was much admired – Congratulations to everyone.

A large group of members went on a tour of Liphook Equine Hospital - here is Beth all gowned up! Vet Helen spent a very long time with the group which was extremely interesting and enjoyable. The facilities at Liphook are fantastic and we look forward to visiting again when all the new buildings are completed.

A day of 3rds! 3rd Placed Intermediate Area Dressage team Katie, Grace, Briony and Ellie with 2nd placed individual Lottie
3rd Placed Open team Alice (who qualified as an individual for the PC Championships), Anna and Tots

Novice Area Dressage competitors Maddie, Megan, Anni, Francesca and Florice

AREA DRESSAGE, Hackwood Park, 7th August
Our Open Team came a very creditable 3rd against some very strong opposition. Tots and Athlone Step and Anna and Litany of Errors came 3rd individually, whilst Alice on Society Smooch came 2nd and qualified as an individual for the Open Dressage Championships. Our Intermediates also came team 3rd, with Grace Lloyd Jones coming 2nd in her arena, Ellie Lloyd Jones coming 3rd and Briony Pearson coming 5th. They were joined by Katie Patrick. Lottie Murphy, competing as an individual, finished 2nd, so well done to everyone. Looking immaculate as ever, the Novices arrived to do their warm up tests, and a good job was done by all. All the tests were well ridden and accurate and the scores reflected this. Megan and Ed, Ani on Kimber and Francesca on Badger did pleasing tests and Florice and Piper and Maddie on Sunny excelled to both come 2nd in their arenas. In the Area test Badger decided he had had enough of behaving like a true gentleman and rather let Francesca down, but she coped very well and the judge was very sympathetic in her summary. Ed and Kimber again tried hard, but it was Florice and Maddie who shone again, Florice coming 3rd and Maddie coming 2nd. Unfortunately for Maddie the winner in her arena was not in a qualifying team so took the indivdual qualifying place for the National Novice Championships, but Florice was luckier and gained a qualifying place at the Championships in Cheshire, for the 2nd year running – but on a different horse – quite an achievement. This gave the team a brilliant 4th place in the competition. Well done everyone, and good luck to the 3 novices – Katarina, Zoe and Florice who have all now qualified to go to the Championships to fly the Chid Farmers’ flag in all 3 disciplines.

SOUTHDOWN HUNT WEST PC SHOW JUMPING, Hickstead, 6th August
Our Minis had a very early start for this exciting competition and it was worth it! The team of Hannah Ede, Rosie Meadows, Henry Rowland and Rebecca Swain had an extremely good day, finishing a brilliant 2nd out of 29 teams.

We are delighted to announce that LIVVI RANDELL has been nominated as the Carr & Day & Martin Ambassador for Area 13. This is a national Pony Club scheme and Livvi will be given a role in promoting a high standard of turnout throughout the Area. Two of our other members, Heather Godman and Amy Maris, also received goodies and certificates and we are very proud of them all

Our 3rd placed Novice Area Showjumpers Francesca, Florice, Megan and Zoe; Bertie and Charlie keeping the side up for the boys;
the moment the qualification announcement was made for Megan and Zoe

Winning Intermediate Area Showjumpers Holly, Suzannah and Katie; Novices Issi, Charlie and Maddie

AREA SHOWJUMPING, Herriard, 30th July
It was another exciting day with a WIN for our intermediate Show Jumping team. Congratulations to Holly Carter on Rebas Hi Flyer and Suzannah Monk on Indian Princess who both did double clears and Katie Patrick on Sue Me Sue who had on unlucky pole in the first round but went onto a clear round in the second phase. They won the competition with a pole in hand and we wish them all lots of luck at the Championships. Congratulations to Suzannah and Indian Princess who also came third individually. Were the Novices really capable of doing Area SJ straight after a fantastic and exhausting week at camp? YES, no problem! Megan on Ed, Zoe on Cherry, Florice on Piper and Francesca on Badger looked immaculate for their Tack and Turn out competition and then jumped lovely first rounds of clears for Megan and Zoe and just a “rolled pole” each for the other two. This was followed by Issi on Tetley, Charlie on Haze and Maddie on Sunny who were also turned out to perfection and Charlie jumped clear, Maddie just “rolled a pole” and naughty Tetley decided it was all too much for him today. Second round was another story for the majority of teams as a nasty frightening water tray appeared below a fence and many a child was sent for a closer inspection by their ponies. Ours however didn’t have a problem with expert riding by our riders and again Megan and Zoe went clear and the others continued with the “rolled pole” syndrome. This gave our A team a final score of 8, giving us 3rd place overall. Only 5 teams finished the competition with 13 being eliminated, so our team really had done fantastically well. As a bonus they also came 4th in the Tack and Turnout competition. Zoë and Megan then had to jump off for individual places. Megan did a nice fast time but did the “rolled pole” thing, but Zoe managed a clear with Cherry very much in charge, which much to our delight gave Zoe 4th and Megan 5th individually, and both a qualification for the Championships. Well done everyone, your turnout and riding were a real credit to you all – and Mums, of course, slaving away in the background. Dads did well with the refreshments too!

TETRATHLON NEWS Suzannah Monk did really well at the Area Tetrathlon and qualified for the National Intermediate Tet Championhips at Hartpury in August. She came 3rd overall but 2nd in Area 13 so she qualified. Suzannah also did Eridge Tet at Mayfield School and competed in the Senior class as there was no Intermediate. She came 3rd. Well done Suzannah!

Winning Area Open Eventing Team including Anna Lawson and Alice Hanson
Winning Intermediate Eventing Team Suzannah, Katie, Grace and Holly with Individual Winner Ellie

Novice Eventers at Area - Florice, Emily, Zoe, Megan, Francesca & Katarina

AREA 13 HORSE TRIALS, Berkshire College of Agriculture, 17th July
It was a brilliant day for our Area Eventers and all their hard work and training really paid off. In the Open class, we were extremely excited when Alice Hanson, in her first attempt at qualifying for the National Open Championships, WON her arena comfortably, also winning the Best Newcomer Cup. Anna Lawson came 5th on her young horse and the combined Open team of Chiddingfold Farmers and Sandown Chase also WON the team class. Our Intermediate Eventers had a fantastic day, with both Ellie Lloyd Jones and Katie Patrick coming 1st in their arenas and Holly Carter coming 2nd. Briony Pearson had an unfortunate tack malfunction which meant she competed HC, but she finished 2nd best in her arena on penalties, Suzannah Monk came 5th and Grace Lloyd Jones 8th. The Intermediate team of Grace, Katie, Holly and Suzannah WON and qualified for the National Intermediate Championships in Derbyshire and Ellie also qualified as an individual. Six novices went to the competition. It was a relatively inexperienced team with young horses, new combinations and first season competitors but they all performed very well, and we were complimented by an official for the standard of riding by our girls. Katarina Chichester Kaner on Haze, Florice Cole Fontayn on Piper and Zoe Solt on Cherry all scored good dressage marks in their arenas, despite the rain. Emily Brock on Bromley and Katarina followed with a double clear and Megan Brown on Ed, and Zoe jumped double clear but just picked up a few time penalties. Francesca unfortunately had one stop X country when Badger thought that a corner was just a bit too confusing. The team were not placed but Emily came 7th in her arena, Florice 4th, Zoe 3rd and Katarina 2nd, and much to our delight Katarina and Zoe have both qualified for the Championships in Cheshire at the end of August. Well done everyone!

BEACH RIDE, Hayling Island, 16th July
An intrepid bunch of our loyal members braved the wind, rain, boardsurfers and a very early start and were rewarded with a fantastic experience and a much needed cooked breakfast and hot chocolate afterwards provided with a big smile by Steve Randell. Thank you so much to Kathy and Chloe for bringing their horses to accompany the riders - they had as much fun as the children! Here are some of their comments:

I really enjoyed the beach ride, despite the weather, and the thing I loved the most was at the end splashing around in the water and galloping (when supposed to be cantering) up and down the beach! Dyno clearly loved it and I would definitely want to do it again!! (Rosie Jameson)

My favourite bit was galloping in the water. I had a brilliant morning. Thank you very much for organising it. (Jeremy Harvie)

The beach ride was really good even though the weather was really bad. Thanks to Lisa and the chefs it was a treat. I would also like to thank Chloe and Kathy for taking us onto the beach. Even though we didn't obey the safety rules we still had alot of fun. Next year I hope the weather is better and that more people will come. (Livvi Randell)

Luke and the two Rosies at Bisley

BISLEY PC EVENTERS' CHALLENGE, 3rd July
Very well done to Giselle Stent who rode very determinedly to finish a close 2nd in the Level 1 Class. Having finished with the fastest time, Luke Stent suffered a tough judging decision to finish 6th in the Level 2 Class whilst Rosie J finished 8th.

CONGRATULATIONS TO LILLI MEADOWS, LAURA NORMAND, TOTS HANSON, CHARLOTTE AND HANNAH MURPHY WHO HAVE ALL PASSED THEIR LUNGEING TEST
and Congratulations to Miya Halsey, Jeremy Harvie, Aimee Hammond Essery and Bertie Cole-Fontayn who have all completed their Hunting Certificate

Our Mini Mini and Novice Teams at Pachesham

SURREY UNION PC SHOW JUMPING, Pachesham, 2nd July
It was a brilliant day for our young showjumpers. Our Novice team of Madeleine Iafrate, Katarina Chichester-Kaner, Anna Webster and Francesca Vallini WON on a very tricky and slippery course. A lot of other teams seemed to suffer from various problems but all of ours took the course on honestly and the girls all had fun supporting one another to a well deserved victory!! The Mini Mini team consisted of Savannah Sartori, Joe Lethbridge, Heather Godman and Jeremy Harvie. We were the only team out of 5 to have 3 clear rounds so WON without the need for a jump off. They all rode brilliantly. The Mini Show jumping team of Grace Jelley on Billy, Amelia Traill on Katie, and Henry Rowland on Just Sam put on a spirited performance, having just one unlucky pole down between them in the first round. They then all expertly jumped clear rounds against the clock, gaining valuable experience to finish 4th. Well done everyone!

Minis at Petersfield ODE - Giselle, Hannah, Annie and Rosie

PETERSFIELD PC ODE, Coombelands, 19th June
Well done to Francesca Vallini and Badger, who did a great double clear to finish 5th in their Novice section. The Mini team of Annie Higgo, Hannah Ede, Rosie Jameson and Giselle came a fantastic 3rd in the Level 2 event. A happy Hannah stayed on her fabulous dressage score to get 3rd out of 27 competitors in her arena, with Rosie Jameson cementing her relationship on Dyno just behind her in 5th. Giselle was very excited after a super double clear at her second ever ODE, but poor Annie got eliminated in the show jumping after a lovely dressage when her mare took a dislike to a daunting rustic which caused a lot of problems all round, but Parsley, Dyno and Lightning never batted an eyelid, being rather old soldiers at this! 'When's the next ODE?' was asked repeatedly!!!

Triumphant Minis Heather, Grace and Livvy at Rogate
(Jeremy had to go home early)

CHIDDINGFOLD PC ODE, Rogate, 12th June
The Chiddingfold Farmers' Leopards Level One team - Grace Jelley, Jeremy Harvie, Heather Godman and Livvy Randell WON their class and took home a rather nice silver cup! They all did a really fab job and went clear XC. Individually, Livvy came 2nd in her arena in her first ever One Day Event, Jeremy came 3rd in his, Grace came 3rd in hers, and Heather came 5th in hers. Annie Higgo who was entered as an individual also came 6th in her arena. We had two Level Two teams - Rosie M, Rosie J, Luke Stent and Hannah Ede made up the Panthers and Georgie Kemp, Henry Rowland, Amy and Izzy Randell were The Lions. Hannah and the Rosies did wonderful dressage tests. Hannah’s Parsley did not enjoy the rain and had 2 uncharacteristic stops. Luke and Rosie J did fantastic double clears, but Rosie M had the fastest xc time in the class with Luke 2nd fastest! Rosie really rode away from her fences in a style learned at the Area Eventing Training Day and finished 5th in her arena, Rosie J was 7th with Luke just out of the places in 9th. The team came 6th out of 16 teams. The Lions did not fare so well, but Georgie on Midnight did a lovely test and XC and Henry on the super young pony Sam also gained valuable experience. Amy and Livvy were unfortunately eliminated as their ponies really didn't like the rain.

Our 7 brave Novices battled on despite the wet and the cold. We began with some very good dressage scores from Charlie Chichester Kaner and Haze, Emily Brock and Bromley and Caileigh Faure with George. Charlie, Alex Adams and Megor and Zoe Solt with Cherry then did clear rounds in the very slippery SJ. Ani Murphy’s Kimber found the going a bit too unsettling however. Thankfully the organisers decided to cancel the time element of the XC because of the atrocious weather and ground conditions. Caileigh was the only one of the team to go clear on the testing conditions on the XC course, with Alex and Francesca having just one stop each. Final scores were high throughout the competition, but our members came away with 5 of the 7 being placed; Caileigh 3rd, Alex 4th, Francesca 5th, Charlie and Zoe 7th. The team of Ani, Francesca, Alex and Caileigh came an excellent 3rd. Hopefully you, your horses and your parents have now dried out! Well done.

Novices Ani and Francesca; Minis Rebecca, Grace, Giselle & Rosie at Cowdray Show Jumping

COWDRAY PC SHOWJUMPING, Selham, 2nd June
We lost two of our Novice team at the last minute so it was left to Ani Murphy (Kimber's Caramel) and Francesca Vallini (Badger) to fly the flag. And high it flew - the entries were enormous and some were extremely fast but both girls had beautiful clear individual rounds. Francesca then joined with the Bisley Hawks team who WON and Ani joined the Cowdray Candy Floss team who came third. Both girls were warmly accepted into each respective team and made to feel very part of it and very welcomed. It made for a fabulous day and to then walk away with placements so high was a real bonus.
The Minis had a great start with a thrilled Giselle winning the mini individual class on Lightening in a class of 46 riders! A lot of poles fell in the class but Lightening jumped beautifully with some super turns in the jump off. The Mini team of Giselle, Rosie M on Woody, Rebecca Swain on Billy and Grace on Billy unfortunately had a team total of 4 faults. Rosie was chosen for the jump-off for 5th-8th place and woke Woody up to get a well deserved 6th place. Cowdray worked very hard to get a great surface so well done to them and also lots of thanks to Jane Vile who came down to watch and sit and chat for a while

Rosie J, Rosie M and Luke at Lower Peake

AREA MINI & NOVICE TRAINING, Lower Peake, 3rd/4th June
Luke Stent, Rosie Meadows and Rosie Jameson were chosen to be our representatives at the Area Mini Training Day and thoroughly enjoyed it. Claire Turner got them thinking about what they were going to do, and why, rather than telling them what to do. Zoe Solt was chosen as our Novice representative and said it was 'the best lesson ever'! Many thanks to Dawn Taylor and PC HQ for putting these trainings on for us.

Congratulations to Grace Lloyd Jones, Annie Higgo, Evie Sharma and Joe Lethbridge who won the Best Turned Out awards at the Half Term Rally

CONGRATULATIONS TO ANNA LAWSON, WHO HAS PASSED HER LUNGEING TEST

NEW FOREST PC TET, 21st/22nd May
Suzannah Monk came and excellent 4th out of a very strong mixed class of Intermediates. She went clear cross country, had the best run and got a Personal Best for her swim. Daniela Chichester Kaner would love to hear from anyone keen to have a go at Tet

Our brilliant Junior Mounted Games Team at Area Games

AREA MOUNTED GAMES, Eashing, 22nd May
We had a fantastic day at the Area mounted games. Our Junior team of Heather Godman, Giselle Stent, Sara Mustafa, Miya Halsey and Emma Thornton came fifth. They were only two points off coming third! Their politeness was commented on by many of the officials and they wore smiles along with their Chidd Farmers team colours. They WON the tack and turnout, which just goes to show what hard work they all put in, (mums beavering away) especially as with the overnight rain the ponies had revelled in a bit of wet earth to roll in at last! They looked very co-ordinated with their blue tack and turnout rosettes and their pink 5th place rosettes. They won a trophy for the tack and turnout so had a lot to carry with the team mascot as well. Many thanks to Sarah Halsey and Jane Vile for being line judges in very trying circumstances, it being so incredibly windy.

The 2nd placed Wildcats and 3rd placed Leopards Mini Mini Teams and the winning Mini Team at Chiddingfold Junior Show

CHIDDINGFOLD PC JUNIOR SHOW, Eashing, 21st May
It was a really brilliant day for our younger showjumpers. Rosie M, Grace, Henry and Luke WON the Mini teams - Rosie and Grace did beautiful clears, Luke had the last fence down and Henry had a few spooks at fillers, but then most of the other teams did too!! Our team went into the jump off with Luke chosen and some beautiful tight turns by Luke and Merlin meant that we WON! Chiddingfold Farmers Wildcats (Jeremy Harvie on Rusty Roo, Emma Thornton on Benjy, Miya Halsey on Domingo and Olivia Leaning on Portia) had one refusal and one crossing of tracks in the first round of the Mini Mini Teams, but that was still enough to get through to the jump off where they all jumped clear, until the last rider, Miya, who had a fall at the last fence. This still proved good enough to place the team 2nd, with Jeremy also getting a special rosette for the fastest round of the jump off. In our Leopards team of Livvy, Patrick, Heather & Sara, Livvy, Heather & Sara all jumped clear in the first round, whilst Patrick had one stop but managed to stay on board after losing both his stirrups. They all had to jump against the clock in the second round - Sara & Heather went clear, whilst Billy stumbled and got his legs wrapped up in a pole, but carried on so just had 4 faults which earned the team 3rd place.

Our Intermediate eventers, who WON the Team class at Hambleden. Anna and Grace WON their arenas and Alice came 2nd

SOUTH OXFORDSHIRE HUNT SOUTH ONE DAY EVENT, Hambleden, 15th May
Congratulations to our Intermediate Team, who WON at Hambleden. Anna Lawson on Litany of Errors WON their section, Alice Hanson on Society Smooch came 2nd in hers and Ellie Lloyd Jones and Kilcarrol Lad did a magnificent XC round. Unfortunately Katie Patrick retired after the show jumping. A very special mention also to our two individuals, Grace Lloyd Jones on Classic Z who WON her section and Suzannah Monk who completed her second intermediate run. The winter training with Rob Stevens and Lynn Wickes certainly paid off. Thanks to all the parents for travelling all that way, especially Steve who kept an eye on the scoreboard. It was very exciting, with 16 teams competing and less than one show jump pole down betwen the top three.

Best Chiddingfold Farmers' Minis at Coombelands - Hannah and Rosie

CHIDDINGFOLD FARMERS' ONE DAY EVENT, Coombelands, 8th May
In the Mini class, the Flyers did well to come 5th with sterling rounds from them all – especially Rosie Meadows and Hannah Ede who both came 3rd in their respective arenas. Luke’s pony Merlin was hugely excited in dressage so it was not his best but made up with a super fast clear SJ and XC to finish 7th in his Arena. Last minute substitute Henry had to learn the dressage test overnight and made a good effort but again more than made up for it with a double clear - a really exciting combination for the future! The Chancers girls managed brilliantly overall to finish 9th - Annie Higgo, Georgie and Amy Kemp's mothers were all jump judging and so unable to help run around after them and it was also Amy and Annie's first ODE. Annie did a fabulous dressage test of 33.3 and so did Amy with a lovely clear showjumping round. Georgie came 9th in her arena overall with a good dressage and clear cross country but unfortunately knocked one down in the showjumping. Rosie Jameson came 4th in her arena with a nice dressage test and double clear. In the Intermediate section, Holly Carter came 3rd on her lovely new horse - what a great start. Suzannah Monk and Katarina Chichester Kaner completed their first intermediate outings. Finally, well done to Novices Megan Brown who came 5th and Hannah Lewis who came 9th

Fourth Placed Mini Mini Team Giselle, Savannah & Jeremy at Bisley

BISLEY ONE DAY EVENT, 1st May
Our Mini mini team of Lilah, Jeremy, Savannah and Giselle came 4th in the team event with Savannah coming 3rd in her arena and Jeremy 4th. There was fantastic dressage from Lilah, super jumping from Giselle and excellent xc from Savannah and Jeremy, the latter two being real stars and strong combinations. Our Mini team managed to finish 6th over a reasonably testing course for this level, with cavemen boating in the river and invisible monsters hiding in the ditch under a large log causing all sorts of problems for the team!! Luke learnt about 'airs above the ground' over the bridge, but some determined riding from Hannah earnt her 6th in her arena and 1st for best dressage. It was a super start to the season for all involved. Thanks to all the mums/dads, DC and ADC for their help and enthusiasm and well done to all the ponies and riders! Novices - It has been a long winter and the first event of the year, Bisley, is probably one of the most challenging. Our 2 Novice teams of Katarina and Charlie Chichester Kaner, Georgia Patrick, Eva Wiesendanger, Francesca Vallini, Ani Murphy and Megan Brown had a few problems through the day, but as many are new and inexperienced combinations they can use this experience to continue their training. Megan and Ed, in their first ever ODE, came a creditable 6th individually. Have a look at the photos under 'Gallery'

GARTH SOUTH AREA DENGIE DRESSAGE FINALS, 20th March
Savannah Sartori and Georgie Ambrose represented Chiddingfold Farmers admirably at the Area Dengie Dressage Finals. Savannah rode a lovely Novice Eventing Test on Fred and (despite Daddy misreading a small part of the test!) she still managed a well deserved 3rd.
Georgie and George also completed a very nice test in the Novice Dressage class and came 6th. Then in the Dengie Area Final (which Georgie qualified for in October) they came 7th out of the 12 finalists - which Georgie was delighted about! Very well done to you both !!

Winning Minis Grace, Giselle, Luke & Annie at Crawley & Horsham South

CRAWLEY & HORSHAM SOUTH SJ, Sands Farm, 12th March
Our Mini Team of Luke, Giselle, Grace and Annie WON the team competition! Luke came 3rd in the individual class and Giselle came 5th.

Congratulations to Rosie Jameson, Olivia Randell, Amy Craig-Wood, Elloise and Amy Maris, Matilda Agace, Lulu Hosking, Alice Mayne and Annie Murphy who have all passed their C Test

Our Novice and Mini Mini Teams at Surrey Union

SURREY UNION PC SJ, Sands Farm, Sands Farm, 26th February
The Novice team made a good start to the year with all 4 going clear in the scurry class, with Anna Webster and Chocolate getting placed 9th. Anna again jumped clear together with Issy Rennocks in the team class, giving the team a total of 4 faults, and as only 1 team managed a total of zero faults they all had to do a jump off. Lilli Meadows on Jack (in their very first outing at a show) and Katarina Chichester Kaner on JS Lad joined Anna and Issy to give us 4 more clear rounds, all beautifully ridden, to put us in 4th place overall, just 1 second behind the team above. Well done everyone! Well done also to our Mini Minis Jeremy Harvey on Rusty Roo, Lilah Gibbs on Broomells Sea Mingulay, Miya Halsey on Domingo and Savannah Sartori on Fred. In the Warm Up Class, Savannah came 5th, Lilah 8th and Jeremy 9th which was a really good result in such a big class. In the Mini Mini Team Competition they came 4th which was a great achievement. The Mini Team of Annie Higgo on Kerandi Arabella, Grace Jelley on Bickerton Merry Music Man, Oliva Leaning on Panda and Olivia Randell on Billy all tried really hard, resulting in 5th place. The heroes of the day were Annie and Grace who both rode lovely clear rounds.

Our Mini team at Crawley & Horsham; Luke, who won the speed class

CRAWLEY & HORSHAM PC SJ, Sands Farm, 23rd February
What a great start to this year's Team Competitions for our Minis. Well done to Rebecca Swain on Billy, Hannah Ede on Parsley, Luke Stent on Merlin, Rosie Meadows on Woody, Giselle Stent on Lightening, Olivia Leaning on Portia and Grace Jelley on Billy and their wonderful supporters. Luke on Merlin rode fantastically to win the Warm Up Class from Hannah on Parsley who appeared to turn on a pinhead. (Not to take anything away from Luke, but it must have been Kathy's Jump Off training at Mini Training last weekend that did it!) Luke's round was smooth and flowing and a pleasure to watch. In the Team Competition the CF Leapers - Luke, Hannah, Rebecca and Rosie M - came a very creditable 5th, and the CF Flyers - Grace, Giselle and Olivia - all learned a lot and gained from the experience. Well done!

Congratulations to Megan Atkin, Hannah Murphy, Suzannah Monk, Lilah Gibbs, Heather Godman, Ashlyn Comrie and
Harriet Stovold who received the Best Turned Out rosettes at the Half Term Rally at Merrist Wood

Our Quiz Teams at the Area Quiz and Horse & Pony Care Competitions with trainer Chloe Collins

AREA 13 QUIZ/HORSE & PONY CARE COMPETITIONS, Cranleigh School, 19th February
We ran a busy and enjoyable day for the Area, with many thanks to Kathy Merrick. Our Quiz team of Lottie, Evie, Heather and Caitlin came 2nd. Our Senior Horse & Pony Care Team of Evie, Lottie and Claudia came 4th, whilst our Junior Team of Heather, Hannah and Livvi came 2nd, pipped by just one mark, so a very good day was had by all

Congratulations to Suzannah Monk who qualified for the Area Dengie SJ Final at BCA recently and also won the 3'3 class.

COWDRAY/GOODWOOD TETRATHLON, 12th February
Sienna Sartori who is 6 did her first Biathalon. She really enjoyed it and proved to be a fast runner. Savannah Sartori came 8th overall out of 22 strong competitors. She was put into a mixed team who came 1st so it was a good day for both of them. The next tet is the South Berks on 26th & 27th March - anybody who wants to come over and shoot is welcome or to pick up targets from Daniela Chichester Kaner to use at home. There is more Tet info under 'Disciplines' including all the 2011 dates
