ROAD RIDER TESTS

Towards the end of last year, the Pony Club introduced a series of Road Rider Tests and Achievement badges, the purpose of which is to introduce road safety at a younger age. The intention is that road safety training should be continuous and progressive.

ROAD RIDER MINI ACHIEVEMENT BADGE 2009

This is the first level to be taken at E to D Test Level. We will let you have details on when we will be organising these tests in due course.

ROAD RIDER ACHIEVEMENT BADGE 2009

This is the next stage to be taken at D+ to C Test Level.

Anyone wishing to take their C or C+ from now on will have to complete the Road Rider Achievement Badge before you awarded your Test Certificate. We will be running some training sessions followed by the test itself around Easter, so if you would like to attend let us know. Priority will be given to those who took their C Test at the end of last year. Other sessions will follow in the summer. You will need to attend at least 5 hours of training before you are put forward to take the test.

Essential viewing and reading for the Road Rider Achievement Badge is the Pony Club Road Rider DVD (we will arrange viewing sessions shortly!) and The Pony Club Junior Road Rider Book, copies of which will be supplied on your first training session. In addition, The Pony Club also recommends reading the Highway Code HMSO. There will be a nominal charge of £25 to cover the cost of the instruction and the Junior Road Rider Book. Please obtain your own copy of the Highway Code.

ROAD RIDER TEST

This is the most advanced of the road safety tests and is taken at C+ to B Test Level.   Riders must be at least 12 years and over (we would suggest minimum age of 14/15 ) and are expected to have prepared by completing the more junior tests referred to above. Members should attain this level before going on to complete their B Test. There is also a BHS test which can be taken instead.

Click below for the requirements of the test as given on the Pony Club website:

We will let you have more information regarding dates and tuition sessions in due course. If you have any queries on the Riding and Road Safety Tests in general, please contact Sandra Pearson ( tel : 01403 822470 or
